Paint problem

I hate to be another one with a paint problem but yep it's happened to me too. You have to catch it at the right angle to see it but it is there. It's on my passenger door towards the top. It looks like a big smudge. Dealer is going to try clay bar first but we both are skeptical if that will work. I am afraid it is probably under the clear coat. He looked at it from a lot of angles and concludes it was most likely caught by the factory and they "attempted" to fix it and obviously did not succeed and let the car go anyways. I took delivery at night and did not immediately see this and it actually took me by surprise when it caught my eye one day. I immediately tried to wash it off and quickly realized this was not something that was going to come off. So it goes in Tuesday for them to try the clay bar. We will see what comes of this.

Sorry to hear about this. You should talk to Sledgehammer a member on this forum. He has a ton of issues with his paint on his car. I think its being re-painted as we speak.........................

I would not let anyone who suggests claybar as a fix to touch this car at all!

Dealer has no idea what they are doing and it should be taken to a professional, high-end body shop or detailer.

Sorry your having the problem, should be fairly easy one to repair.

No should not send it to a body shop. Need to take your Camaro to the detailer of YOUR choice and the dealer needs to pay for it...

Agree with dave, looks like the paint is contaminated underneath the clear. Easy fix. Some labor involved. A clay bar or polish won't touch it. Any decent body shop (or the dealers uses) will respray the whole panel, since it's computer mixed, it'll be a perfect match for a new car. If its under the clear, it's obviously warranty.

Most detailers don't do full on paint/respray work and won't be able to fix that. going to need more.

thumbs down me all you want but I wouldn't trust a dealer that says claybar.

IMO ... Chevrolet should have waited one more year before releasing the camaro. But hey ... time is not on anyone's side.

The dealer is not doing it themselves. It is going to a body shop they claim to use often and trust. The dealer is just handling all the logistics of it. Hoping for an easy fix. Either way you are right it is under warranty so one way or another I am sure they will make it right.

Most reputable body shops guarantee their work for life.

That stinks! You have to remember, there are a handful of people on this forum that have paint issues, and not all of them have major exteriors issues, a lot of them are inside doors, trunks, etc. This is compared to thousands already built, probably in excess if 10k now. Not making lite of it at all, but lets hope these handful are all and now start to get better. My car was built on the 2nd day of production and my paint is perfect...so it looks like it is just some early inconsistencies with painting cars.
