If they made a variant of the Z28 would you buy it?
If they made a variant of the Z28 using the V6 and I4 would you buy it?
I'm thinking along the lines of the 2017 1LE's, but I purpose keeping the Z28 title for the V8 and badge the V6 as a Z26 and the I4 could be a Z24. What are your thoughts?

Honestly, I can believe they are offfering the 1LE in a V6, and please GM, don't bring back those names like Z24 and Z26. Most people are trying to forget those years in the car world.

I personally can't even fathom why someone would buy a T4 or V6 Camaro at all...
It's a sports car (muscle car... whatever...) There is so much that you sacrifice when you buy a sports car that to me it makes no sense if you aren't getting the biggest benefit. I am buying this thing because IT GO's. If it didn't, i would buy something that did. And if I didn't care about performance, I would be looking for something with more comforts, more room, more visibility, etc. The V6 is marginally faster than an Accord and you cant even put 2 adults in the back. I can't believe they are offering a V6 1LE and a V6 Z/28 would be a travesty. But hey, that's just my opinion... I could be wrong. Last edited by DMC75; 02-12-2016 at 09:16 AM. |

You are right the Z24 was a Cavalier and the Z26 was the Baretta. I believe that was the problem they took good names and put them on crappy cars.
This time, they would go on to Cars that are worth the badges.

The problem with using HP as a measurement of performance is that it is always going up. So that one day you will find that your V8 400HP V8 is being overshadowed by a 600HP V8 and a 402HP V6 is kicking your ass. Pulls all that extra HP can't be used on the streets. That is why they put in so many computers to help you drive it. Plus who will be able to afford the cars, not the average person.

An accord V6 Coupe will get to 60 in about 5.5 seconds and finish the quarter mile in about 13.8 seconds. Like I said, marginally faster... |

I'm one of the people who think a Z/28 should have a higher revving NA V8 and uncompromising track focus... just give it a different name altogether otherwise.

The V6 will do 0-60 mph in 5.1 seconds and the I4T 0-60 mph in 5.4 seconds. The V6 runs the quarter-mile in 13.5 seconds while the turbo clocks in at 14 seconds. According to what techtimes.com says the numbers you gave for the Accord are closer to the I4T, not the V6 Camaro. As a matter of fact, those numbers show that the I4T is faster than the Accord. The Accord is listed at 278 HP compared to the I4T's 275 bhp and let's not forget that the V6 Camaro is listed at 335 bhp. That's more HP in the V6 than any of the V8's from 1971-2002 and you still call those muscle cars. http://www.techtimes.com/articles/84...-0-seconds.htm
