Upgrade to 5th Gen ZL1 brakes, guaranteed to fit. The same 370mm rotors and six piston calipers. Although, these will have the red caliper with 1LE already on them. I would bet that they will fit a 5th Gen. but not 100% positive.

I've noticed that too...

He looks to be a disgruntled 5th gen 1LE owner...

Didn't see it mentioned but how many SS 1LE's is GM intending to produce? Is this a limited production number or will they make as many as people will buy?

Unlike the GT350, it sounds like you can order one without constraints on the numbers.

I also question the strange location...has this track EVER been used before for a major magazine test? Was it chosen by Ford???
Half a second faster? How about over a full second faster:

"At Chuckwalla Valley Raceway, the Z/28 laid down a fast lap of 1:59.03. The GT350R: 1:57.87. — Randy Pobst"

That's because it is simply an option package, not a trim level.

I took it from this quote, "The base not that I am aware of, I think the 1LE could handle the base 350.

There is a time for GT350 TP at Chuckwalla 2:00.82, the Z/28 got around that track in 1:58.45, and the GT350R in 1:57.87 So if the 1LE is faster than the TP that puts it right on the heels of the Z/28".

Do you have a link to your numbers? I found it.

After seeing the track it was extremely tight which would favor the lighter vehicle. I'm sure Ford chose the venue. I fully believe those wheels made that difference...cudos to Ford for having the "Balls" to put over $30,000 in wheels on a Mustang.

Yeah...just like the last gen! Whoever wants one can get one without an insane markup! Great news!

I compared pictures from the 1LE at the Chicago Auto Show to my ZL1 brakes. I know the rotors are the same size and the calipers look the same. They look like the same size with same mounting holes as far as I can tell from the pictures. It would make sense that they would be same Brembos for part reduction and utilization. So I am 99% sure but until you can put the two calipers together at the same time, that is it for right now. They will most likely have two different part numbers because of being different colors and different logos.

But you said you were sure it was the wheels that put the GT350R half a second ahead of the z/28, so you had to be referring directly to the GT350R. Motor Trend chose the track. And that price for the carbon fiber wheels cost you posted has been refuted multiple times as being over-inflated. But then, have you priced carbon-ceramic brakes like what GM put on the z/28? Not exactly cheap.

http://autoweek.com/article/car-news...ont-cost-30000

Look, I don't want to derail the thread with another z/28 vs GT350R discussion. The SS with the 1LE option is going to be a strong performer and could very well run with or beat a base GT350 and maybe even a GT350 w/track pack.

It's the people who paid $75K + ( or more) for a z/28 just a year or two that I feel sad for if the 6thGen SS w/1LE is anywhere close to its lap times.

V6

If you own a 5th generation v6, you'll know why they included it. They can be built to be seriously fast and still get over 30mpg on the road.
