What they sell for and what they list for is different. If that was Al O. that said that he had to have mispoken. No way this car MSRP under 40K

40k sounds too good to be true for a car which starts at 37,300.. From the sounds of it, they have more margin in the new cars versus their old ones and could possibly be going the route of not making as much profit on 1LE trim vs just a standard 2SS, but I'd still think the 1LE will come in at 42+.

Maybe since 1LE sales will account for such a small number, they will take a hit (meaning, small profit margin) to get the car into the hands of those who really want them and to really shove it at Ford? If it came in around $40 grand I honestly think it would be the best performing car, cost/bank for the buck wise ever?

I still don't see anyway its under 40. If it is, its basically saying F you to all the people that got MRC and dual mode exhaust, you could have gotten all this extra stuff for 500 more.

Maybe they are not happy with sales thus far. I read the 1LE was on 10-15% off SS orders last generation, so maybe they are really trying to sway people from the Mustang GT PP.

I'm going to call this out that it's probably a misquotation -- especially since this would mean the 1LE is only a $2,000 upgrade over a base 1SS which starts at $38k. In the same quote you cited, Al said this will cost slightly more than the 5th gen 1LE, which was a $3,500 upgrade. So right there alone, that's conflicting data.

If it isn't, this makes no sense from a pricing strategy. It would basically heavily undermine any incentive for people to go out and buy a 1SS with MRC and NPP, and it could also pretty much kill the 2SS because it would then be perceived as a horrible value by comparison.

So yeah, I call BS on this. Must have been a communication error somewhere.

I think $43,000 would be a more reasonable price point that still keeps it below the cost of a fully loaded 2SS. They could then also decide at some future point to offer a 2SS 1LE for just north of $50k, leaving plenty of room in the price range for the future ZL1 which is obviously going to be in the high $60k range.
