Well it concluded with supposedly a GM mechanic coming out to investigate and they had nothing to say besides "we'll double check that electrical connectors are secure".

Then they said they'd like to do an "extensive road test" I said no thanks I can do that myself

So did they fix it?

Today they updated me that after I declined their "extensive road test" the GM mechanic said they should replace the "steering gear", so now I'm waiting for that to be done. Over a week of rolling last gen V6 loaner :(

Cool. Hopefully that will solve your problem. I really like the guys at my dealership. They've fixed my car perfect with every problem and been in touch with the GM engineers a few times. I'd have no problem letting them drive my car if they felt it was necessary to figure out an issue.

Any updates on this? I feel your frustration. My car is sitting at the dealership for the power steering going out as well.

In my case, the light on the DIC would come on and off very quickly and the steering would lock up for a few seconds, but got worse to the point I couldn't drive it safely and had to go in for warranty and a rental... a Chevy Spark (thanks GM for rewarding my loyalty).

I'm curious if you had the power steering come in and out which started around 500 miles I'd guess or if it went completely out. The dealership called Saturday afternoon and said that they were unable to get parts until Tuesday at the earliest, but seemed confident that they knew what was wrong.

I will have to check my notes to see what they plan on replacing, but definitely wasn't the steering gear unless there's some other terminology for it. Because of this thread, I was waiting for them to update me stating they'd be replacing the steering gear, but that was not the case.

Really not looking forward to a constant replacement of parts with no results. Just skeptical since your dealer seems to be going with the steering gear.

As for them driving it... as much as I'd like them not to, I'd rather have it fixed. What harm could they really cause in a relatively short test drive. If anything is messed up they will be fixing it.
