Preparing SS for track day

I'm almost past the break in period and I can't wait to try out the "competitive mode" on the track in march, before I bring it to the streets

From reading the owner's manual there are 2 things that need to be done:
- replace break fluid with high temperature one
- replace plastic shielding around the breaks with less restrictive one (I have it from factory)

Has anyone done this or has opinion on how necessary this is? Any recommendation on the break fluid?

Thanks!

If your at it frequently or an all day event with 100 degree weather I'd say change it to DOT5. Otherwise, if your going to do it once in a blue moon I'd see no real reason to change it. Maybe flush it more frequently.

Think twice about using DOT 5. Do your research... and read this thread:

ok, not to be rude, but someone who reccomends dot5 needs to be kept far away from the track. Dot5 is not compatible with 3/4 and frankly, it boils like water. I only recommend Castrol SRF, as I have boiled every other brand. I like carbotech pads too, but be sure they are ducted

Dot 3/4/5.1 are all compatible

Dot 5 is Sillicon (iirc) based and not compatible with the Camaro braking system, nor is it compatible to mix with Dot 3/4/5.1 fluid

Running on a track with dot3 is dangerous IMO and if you could only do one thing I would change to dot 4. Make sure you have at least half the pads left. Braided brake lines help with pedal feel too. You can also get a more aggressive alignment which will let the tires grip better and wear more evenly.

The problem with this world is stupidity.
I'm not saying there should be penalties for stupidity,
but why don't we just take the warning labels off everything and let the problem solve itself.
