I wish the bet was for more than $0.50, as I would love to take your money!

Doubtful...but difficult to prove because nothing of the sort has ever been done (to my knowledge).

Well...that's a thought. But it's not what the media invitation said...

Yes, on the 5th gen I kept bugging the mods for the 1LE forum. They said they were fighting over whether or not to have a seperate section for just an option on an SS. Well it was much more than an option. And really, an SS with the 1LE option WAS a seperate model with all the changes. People get all hung up on that distinction.

For my part whether or not the 1LE was an option or a seperate model the poeple buying it would be wanting to discuss performance and tracking. So a seperate section was justified. It remains to be seen if the 1LE has as many differences on the CA6 as in the 5th gen. I suspect not, as the SS it seems, is so good. Still since the focus is tracking there should be a seperate section. Buyers who buy it because its cool and worry about how to polish the car and add tint are better off on the other forums.

So mods, how about this: A 1LE General forum with a tracking and traking mods subsection.

Here you go, pile on and share your thoughts:

Based on what? The mag shocks are pretty spendy by themselves, but that's not the problem. You can't retrofit MRC on a non-MRC car because the MRC controls and PTM modes are in the BCM among other modules, harnesses, connectors and such.

$750 each, there will be some electrical wiring, a few of the tuners have already hacked the PTM and it will a simple matter of time until a reflash will reactivate it the modes required

eg.... There are already LT4 / turbo menus in all Camaros

http://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=433591

replaced ZL1 with LT4

All the software for all available hardware options and models (2LT, 2SS) is built into each car. Certain menus are disabled when an option like MRC is not opted for.

Then it comes down to reconnecting the MRC to the computer and re-enabling the menu. After that its just lines of edited computer code.

I will email my engineering contact on the Camaro team about the differences in the build/assembly process between MRC and non MRC.

Now, that would be excellent!

About re-enabling the menu . . . if you're going to have MRC on a car with selectable modes for all sorts of other things, perhaps there should be separate MRC calibrations defined by the mode. For a performance car, better yet would have the MRC level driver-selectable independently of modes. Even if it has to have a default setting on startup. Soften things up in the wet or snow/slush or firm them up for track or autocross work just like you would with manually adjustable shocks&struts or coilovers. I'd be a whole lot more likely to go for something like that than any "one size is just going to have to fit everybody" arrangement.

I would be surprised that anyone has hacked the BCM (not the radio menu) to allow deep access to the MRC controls. Even comprehensive tuning suites such as HPTuners and EFILive don't have access to that information. It would be nice, but let's see what the engineer says.

Probably uses the stupid CANbus protocol, which is a nightmare (mostly due to lack of engineer documentation)

I'm hoping for some sort of leak prior to the media preview! A couple of uncamouflaged photos would suffice.
