Two dimples on rear of car from factory

There are 2 round dimples on the rear of the car, left of the licence plate. One hole is on top the other hole is just below it. Can see it from an angle only. Would have taken some pic's but it is too dark for that now. Looks like 2 mounting holes for something??? that has been painted over. Check your car out too, might have the same thing.

Post pics when you can as it's hard to understand where and what these could be.

I've read in other posts that they are there for mounting license plates from other countries that have different size plates.

I have the dimples too. Noticed them Sunday while I was installing black bowtie.

They are markings for the rear plate, so you know where to drill to screw in for the license plate.

Here you go it on my car too, looks like this is for a plate from some outer country, so this car is built to sale over seas but come on.

Those are the mounting locations for a Euro plate.

Often see these in the states. While it could be a poser it is more likely that the owner took European delivery of the car. Buy the car and pick it up from the factory (BMW, Volvo, Audi, Porsche, MB) then enjoy a nice european vacation driving your brand new car. Drop your car off at a predetermined location, fly home, and then wait for ~ 3 months for your car to be shipped to you.

I was wanting to buy my wife a Volvo and take european delivery for our 10 year wedding anniversary but, my wife poo poo'd the idea. So, I'm driving a new Camaro instead!

That's nice but we got a US car, dont think it needs to be there for cars that will be sold in the USA.

Pretty common, saves tooling costs on two bumpers and keeps money in your pocket.
