DC auto show photos and thoughts - Camaro and BMW M2

Got to check out the DC auto show today. Chevy had a large presence as expected. Had a few corvettes on display and two Camaros, 2SS and a RS. There was a TON of people buzzing around these cars. Also, I was surprised to see BMW had their M2 there as well. The BMW looks amazing in person and the price point is very attractive. I heard the car is already mostly sold out this year. From the outside it looks like the interior dimensions aren't much different from the Camaro and performance should be very good if M235i and the M4 are any indicators. With well equipped 2SS models creeping into the mid to high $40s the BMW M2 makes for a very attractive alternative.

The M2 has a lot of hopes riding on it that it will be much more of a drivers car than the M3/M4. But anyway you cut it, there's a $10k difference between the comparable 2SS. But I applaud them for making a much more attainable M car.

Agreed. What surprised me the most is the simplistic pricing structure. Mostly everything is standard and only two options.

Yea that is extremely odd. I've never seen a BMW with so many standard features. Hell my 328i has Sport, Lighting, Premium, HK audio, and Tech packages.

Also forgot to mention the black bowties look awesome in person. They have a checkered texture and really pop. A very nice and subtle accent on the car.

I think Camaro is a good value overall, but the M2 at around $50k might be a better bargain. I'm not even picking sides here. It's just sort of surprising to see this sort of packaging from BMW at this price point. My 335i was over $50k and a well equipped M4 is north of $75k.

lol... I checked with a local BMW dealership on the M2 and they are booked with orders. They've got a nice surprise coming though because the sales rep told me BMW is tacking on an extra 10K over MSRP for that car.

So I book an order for a car I *think* is going to run 51K and BMW prices it at 61K.

Hasn't been released. GM won't release it without a video to confirm the time. And don't believe there were any opportunities last year to release a video due to other manufacturers running cars that are still prototypes. So basically GM can't release a video due to disclosure agreements with the track. Now the car is officially out, they might get a chance this year for a recorded lap.
