Extended warranty?
Just want to get some opinions on extended warranties and if they really are worth it?
Dealer gave me a day to think about it. I was going to go for it but seemed like I might be wasting money. Even though it doesn't seem like a lot split up into monthly payments but I feel like I would never use it...so why pay for it... Also it's capped at 100k miles. 72months. Those plans are huge money makers for dealers. I would go back and offer him 1350 for that warranty and negotiate from there.

I negotiated a wheel and tire warranty down from a number like that to $1200. Still wasn't worth it in the end to me, but it shows you how much profit these things make for dealers.

May also consider how the car is going to be used... If its a daily driver, the warranty is more valuable to you. But i agree, if you are thinking of buying it, start negotiating way lower than 2700.
I am definitely not going to buy any extended warranty on mine because it will not be a daily driver, and in 3 years, when the MFG warranty is up, i will either be trading up to a ZL1, (or if the stars align a Z06) or modding it to the point where the warranty would be voided. |

I was more interested in the tires and wheel protection. Also they are starting the warranty today, so basically would be running concurrent to the factory for 3 years and then I would have extra 3 years after that. The tires wheels protection makes more sense as it start the moment I drive off the lot. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Ive had extended warranty on two cars and I never used it. Seems like Camaros are very reliable cars (never owned one) so Ill be skipping the extended warranty.

Thanks for your input. It will be a daily driver for atleast couple years before I can buy a beater. I do plan on keeping the car for a lot longer. So maybe I should, but I definitely have to talk to them on the price and have it start after 3 years. Instead of today. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

"he gave you a day to think about it"...
LOL, you can buy extended warranty a year from now...maybe 2, maybe 3. Personally, if you are interested, shop around, some dealers offer them much cheaper, and you can maybe even buy online from a dealer if they offer. Shoot, If i were you, i'd call Becky Doyle at Rogers Chevy and see if she sells them and for what price.

I would advice you stay away from paying for the extended warranty, and instead, create a savings account for your car in the unlikely event it does break down after the initial warranty expires. I regret getting the extended warranty since the 5th gen has proven to be too reliable to justify buying an extended warranty.
However, this is a new model year with major changes, so who knows what problems may arise in the future if any. I'm gonna take a leap of faith here and trust GM to not deliver me a lemon, and skip on the extended warranty, and instead just set some money aside for repairs. if we're lucky with this generation as well, all that saved money can instead go into more mods or groceries and wife's clothes
