SS owners, anybody blacked out the chrome strips below the LED's?

Not sure why GM added these chrome strips, but they need to go. Anybody paint, vinyl, dip them yet?

I was thinking of doing what Glen did to the chrome on his RS. He used black tape to cover it up. It looked surprisingly good too. I have a can of black plastidip and am thinking of doing this or the tape. I'm not a fan of the chrome either.

I hate that they did that. It's literally one of the only spots that have chrome on the car lol. You can't really tell its there unless you are up on the car.

I would black mine out as well.

If you want to do it, here's the stuff. It makes it look exactly like the other Matt black flutes in the grill. It'll take about 20 minutes .....

First thing to go... I hate chrome on sports cars.... Low gloss vinyl would work best... I did the same to my last car and it has held up well over 4 years.

I like mine, a little bit of chrome, gives it a little pop in the front without too much chrome.

I agree. I do hate chrome but just a hint of chrome actually works great. Especially with our garnet red. Why I left that tiny little bit chrome strip under the led and the wheel lug nuts.

Not a fan of chrome either, some vehicles I like a little but with the Camaro and Garnet Red, definitely only a little bit. I actually like the way the chrome blends in with the shiny piano finish around the LED strips.

I don't like chrome either, but it doesn't stand out as much as i thought it would. I also think it helps reflect the led light.

I was thinking the same thing. I bet its plays into the LED reflection somehow. Or at least that was their thought process... I'm neither for or against it.

Yup, I agree. I hate chrome on modern cars like these. Plus, it's not even real chrome, just plated plastic lol. Mine will go to black right after I get it...as will the lug nuts and air valves too.

Only things I am not sure what to do about is the emblems. Most likely will black out the bowties fully, and then for the SS emblems I will mask off the red, and make the edges black. So, just the exhaust tips will have brightwork...which I actually like there.

What are you referring to as air valves being chromed?
