Keeping your pipes mirror perfect

Once again, it's not about a magic product; Semichrome, Flitz, Mothers - what ever product you choose to polish with, Like all detailing, it's all about the procedure that makes the difference. In keeping with my mantra that things need to be easy, fast and EFFECTIVE, this get is done better than any other method I've tried. Why? because the hand cannot move at 1200 rpm, but your drill will. So this is the Mothers power cone.

wash, put some polish on the cone - I use Borla - and run it around and into the pipe...3 min later the result is STUNNING

Mother's power cone off amazon:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...=sr_1_1&sr=8-1

I then seal with a coating...any will do. Clean the cone afterwards with laundry detergent, mine is perfect after 3 years. Great for wheel sealing too...

$30 for the Borla cleaner.... Ouch.

Any other suggestions for a cleaner/polish?

How long does it keep it pipes clear (given stock tune and stock/npp exhaust and not some no cat straight pipe tuned vehicle) ?

I use Armorall Wheel Protectant spray after I wash my wheels and it keeps them extremely clear for a good 2-3 months (just need to rinse them in between and it's back to clean). The reason why I mention is because I am trying to figure out what you do is the same mentality or not.

Thanks again Glen, love the informative posts!

A couple weeks. Exhaust particulate is super corrosive.

Protectant after polish. The mechanical action of Polish at 1200 rpm is where you get the gloss, not the last step ptoduct, it just protects.

Armour all has made a great comeback. They used to be crappy products. But I use their extreme tire shine for my tires , it's good as anything else I've used , even the high end boutique kind. The only Armour all product I found that sucks is their OUTLAST tire shine . Puts a miserable coating on your tires, impossible to get off without mineral spirits....Run Forrest......

Ya know, I've got this ginormous spinner on the plane that I can polish but it never stays that way. Since discovering sealants on this forum, I wonder....

Not sealants, a coating will get it but expensive

Yeah I already thought about buying one of these for my drill for my pipes, they are cleaned all the time, but they need tbe polished. What do you put on the outside of the pipes, coat those too?

You really don't need to coat a pipe if you don't want to. It's just icing on the cake. Monthly 3 min polish will protect them as much as anything else. I just happen to own the coating at the time or the optimum opti coat coating that's in the picture.

Good deal...yeah I clean them all the time anyway, will polish them every once in a while and call it a day. Get a chance to try out my new 18V Makita cordless drill I got for Christmas.

Glen,

I have to ask the detailing newbie questions. When you say...

wash, put some polish on the cone - I use Borla - and run it around and into the pipe...3 min later the result is STUNNING

Since the only thing in the picture that I see is the spray bottle of 50/50 water/alcohol are you saying to wash the inside of the pipes with that? Spray and wipe with a towel? Polish is using the cone and the Borla and the cone in the drill? Are you applying the sealant with the cone as well?

If you have a thread somewhere else, please point me there.

Thanks,

Howard
