I'm sure it's for making sure cabin drone is not too bad in the car...

I don't think GM would put these on a rate the engine HP lower for the hell of it. lol

Holy cow...without seeing the pics I thought everyone was being anal.

That's pretty significant...

Not sure it will effect a stock car much....but when the hp numbers start rising that could be a bottleneck....

I was planning on standard SS exhaust anyway and will go aftermarket...one more reason now I guess...

I look at it as they did it to increase the exhuast velocity as it exits the 'Performance Reducers' Creating ferocious sound and power!

Can't always think negative.....

Makes me sleep better at night Brad thank you for the in depth explanation.

I think most of us with NPP are going to buy headers and replace the pipe back to the mufflers if dyno's show a improvement any ways.

I can say I love the NPP exhaust! It does work well.

I'm going to take this off-topic for a second, but remember that bigger piping isn't always better. The C7 guys are now figuring out that by swapping to 3.0" X-pipes (Corsa) rather than 2.75" ( stock & Borla) they're losing torque down low which is actually increasing 1/4 mile times and reducing trap speeds. From an email exchange I had with David Borla, their testing indicated that 2.75" diameter piping is ideal for a strong overall curve with the LT1/4 when retaining the primary cats.

I am working with my brother in-law to see how we can add an H-Pipe and have a better flow on this section of pipes for the NPP system.
Can you post a picture from the side to illustrate how far that is crushed down? Do the non-NPP exhausts have that as well?

This indention is after the AFM valves. I know for me personally anyway, if I go the header/x-pipe route I still want my afm valves to keep the sound and vibrations down in v4 mode, and I still want v4 mode for the gas mileage. I wonder if aftermarket x-pipes will stop before the afm valves , go all the way back and get rid of them, or include their own afm valves

Pretty sure we aren't giving up any power. Check out this video of them bashing the cr@p out of some headers on a dyno
