AnyBody Know When The Dark Tail Lamps Will Be Available?
They will be perfectly legal. Just like the Z06 tailamps.
I think the accessories book shows they look the exact same. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Last edited by Memphis43; 01-10-2016 at 05:26 PM. |

They are 100% legal, and they do look exactly like what Zack posted. I have had an accessories dealer quote $550 for them uninstalled. Still no exact date on when they will be released, hopefully soon!!

If these end up not being dark enough, you definitely don't want to use window tint. It could start coming off and bubbling and look like crap. I used window tint on my charger's headlights before I got my halos and it didn't last because of the heat from the lights.
On my tail lights and markers I used Laminex and it still looks as good as it did 4 years ago. Nothing peeling, bubbling, etc. If you run into trouble with the law, it can be easily removed (unlike painting). I live in CT and commute into NY and have never had a problem with being pulled over. If you're not afraid to paint, the other thing you could do is paint the interior housing that faces outward black, which makes it appear darker. The photo of my headlights is with no tint - just the housing painted black and the halos off. I'm not sure if the housing on the Camaro tail lights can be painted, but if it's something we can do in addition to the light covers, it should look extra dark during the day and not impact their brightness at night.

What the heck happened in this thread lol. It went from "Anyone know when the dark tail lamps will be available?" to saying that they won't be street legal. Even though they're going to be an option from GM. Anyway.
I don't think anyone has a set date on when they'll be available. I'd think by Spring. I've heard a price of $525 but I'd have to find the thread. As far as "too dark to sell!" based on a picture of them not even lit up... have you seen the Z06 tail lights? They're clear and light up red. That's exactly how I'd imagine these will work. |
