Glad you are inspecting the old part. Have them show you where the damage is and then you can look at that radiator on the car to see if that spot even has a clear line of sight to debris (either directly or through ricochet). Sounds fishy but I guess it's possible that a rock just took the wrong path and ended up poking a hole. If on the other hand, you see that the hole is on the very bottom or in some area that is protected by a grill or cowel that a rock shouldn't really have access to, you have a right to be suspicious that it was a rock.

Dealers will always play that same song and dance till the end of time. Dealership service dept's are counting on its customers to be morons and just go along with anything they say.

Get a second opinion always from a reputable independent mechanic shop.

Dealers will always hit you with "if you do that it will void your warranty"

1. because they want your money
2. they are counting on you to not know any better

Law sates the dealer HAS TO PROVE that your mod/etc caused/causing the damage/issue.

For ex, if i bolt on a twin turbo kit to my 2016 2SS And the power seats stop working, are they going to blame the turbo kit for that? LoL. They would still have to warranty my power seat issue due to my turbo kit had no bearing on that particular issue.

While I hate agreeing with a dealer, explain how this mysterious hole showed up? Its not as if it just appeared due to a defect in the metal. Something made this hole.

Yes it was damaged by something, assuming a rock. After they repaired I kept the old Auxiliary Radiator and saw where the rock hit. Might think about getting some kind of screen to better protect these Radiators. Called a local Radiator shop $78.00 to repair the damaged one.
