Muffler delete question

Will a muffler delete void your bumper to bumper warranty? And should the resonators stay or should they go as well?

Your neighbors love you don't they!

But seriously...is the only reason for muffler delete to make the car louder?

I obviously don't know what this does - anyone done this already on a Camaro? Is this just a CAT Back?

it shouldn't, but it all depends on your dealer. my dealer says that doing any exhaust mods from the cat and beyond will void it, so a cat back, axle back, or simple muffler delete should be fine, but ask your dealer to be sure.

either way, the law requires them to prove that the mod caused a problem to the powertrain to blame the muffler delete and void your warranty. and ive never heard of a muffler delete blowing up an engine or whatever. but are you willing to make it a court case?

ask your dealer.

*generally* dealers are mod friendly for catback and CAI mods. If your dealer isn't, find another dealer to get service work done because they sound like a stick in the mud. Plus, Chevrolet offers their own performance catback and CAI so it would be a little hypocritical to give you warranty issues for those items.

Also, obligatory "they can't void your entire warranty due to MM Act" response.

No neighbors for me I live in the country. Lol. And the non npp ss is very quiet. This is temporary until I get an exhaust system for it.

Exhaust system has a separate warranty as mandated by the Feds. So you would only be voiding the warranty on the exhaust at worst case. Not a biggie.

Yeah the only thing that was taken off was the muffler the tips are attached to and piping was added to connect to the tips. Everything else still remains. I'll post a video tomorrow as its dark and getting pretty cold.

Awesome, thank you. I was just curious. I am gonna get the cats on the xpipe removed. I keep saying I was gonna go get an xpipe but NPP and xpipe are ONE pipe... So I am just gonna hit my local hot rod shop and have them take those cats off.
