another cheap mod: black out grill chrome

I'm kinda "meh" on the two small chrome strips on the LT grille, so I had to see the look without them. So I used a tip we found a few years ago on the honda forums, use electrical tape!

1. alcohol the strip
2. start on one end and stretch the tape a bit.
3. smooth and clean

The great thing about this tape is it looks so good some never remove it!
and it lasts at least a year if done right...

enjoy - posting to add content, not opinion...

Not bad. Looks pretty good. Still though, I am happy with the way my 2LT grille looks. I will leave that alone in terms of any mods to it......

Looks good, I hate chrome on modern cars. I think the SS has two little chrome strips under the lower LED's, they will need to go.

Looks so much better!

I used a 3m black electric tape (just to test it) on the chrome surround of the black bowties, surprisingly even though I absolutely hate chrome (personal pref), the chrome promotes the black bowtie itself and does look good (for me).

So I like the black out of the grill after doing the above, so I went a bit more professional. Now the upper chrome strips are gone as well, using this 3M 1080 stuff and a heat gun.
Elec tape gone.

I was going to do your cool mod, but then i noticed that the chrome strips can be snap out of place? Can this be done without breaking anything?

Just an suggestion, blackout tape from pep boys never peels off on its own but can be removed by you if desired.
It may be a 3m product, I cant remember, but back when I owned a 95 impala everyone used this stuff to black out chrome window trim.
