I recall the 2010's being gone within hours of them hitting the lot, dealer allocations were used up on customer orders as soon as they got them, took me a while to find a dealer who could actually order me one

Kinda hard to sell a 400hp+ rwd sports car in the winter. And many are waiting on word of a ZL1.

I purchased my 2010 2ss/rs fully loaded new for a little under $40,000. Drove it for five years and traded it in for $21,000. The car was sold with in a week. I'd say that is pretty damn good.

Not that many are waiting on word of a ZL1...the market for a minimum $60,000 coupe isn't that huge.

it'll pick up in spring, the car came out too late into winter, a time where people would rather spend money on Christmas gifts. and GM hasn't been promoting it and advertising it much, many potential buyers don't even know its out, only the enthusiast know.

once the 4banger and vert come out, im sure sales will pick up.

I am betting they are trying to get ahead of the demand that the 2.0 Turbo will have when it is available to be ordered and the sale rates once they hit the dealerships.

Due to the price being much more lower and still have the greatness of the gen6 the demand will be huge. SS was never the "top" seller to begin with. V6 is more common but with the price increase to that, I know a lot of people still didn't want buy it, only the die hard, I gotta have this car did.

I've noticed the same SS inventory at the dealers here in Denver for the last few weeks without much movement. Might be because of the holidays, but I would have expected these to go a bit quicker.

I haven't seen any on the road yet. Dealers by me in NJ started getting them in early to mid December and I check their stock every week and it doesn't look like any of them have sold yet.

I don't think this is a sign of anything other than what you would expect to happen when trying to sell a new RWD car in the winter. I'm sure sales will pick up in the spring especially if GM throws in some incentives.

I'm not 100% sold on the "it's the winter" argument...the Mustang went on sale in October of 2014 and sold nearly 10,000 cars in December of 2014..and continued sales of over 7,500+ for nearly the whole of Winter 2014-2015...

I think winter does play into it...but I suspect it's a bit larger stew than that...

Higher prices+mostly the same styling (to the casual buyer/observer)+no real discounts or pricing plans for the general public...etc...

It will pick up, no doubt about it, and I'm sure in the next 6 months or so we'll see a surge and probably a few 9,000 or even 10,000 car months...but not the overwhelming demand like the 5th gen...the pent up demand after 6 years of non-production just isn't there this time.

ford had an awesome in-your-face marketing campaign too, they were making sure the word got out. and they put the car out BEFORE Christmas, so people who would have otherwise spent money on xmas gifts "rationalized" the new car purchase instead.

GM needs to do a better job marketing and getting the word out. the GEN 5's best marketing technique was featuring in a blockbuster movie. what has GM done for the gen 6? nothing, really, except win some awards from publishers that only hardcore car lovers follow, the casual buyer isn't hearing about it.

also the price is high as hell, that may be a factor lol. people can try to justify the new price all they want, claiming that you get more bang for your buck or whatever, but bottom line is that its still over priced. my 2lt rs with all the goodies was only 31-32k, the new 2lt with all the goodies is about 40k!!! that's a huge turn off to me, and im sure it will be a huge turn off for many others.

I think the big difference between the 6th gen and the 5th gen launch is there isn't a huge pent up demand. There was no Camaro for a while so people really wanted to get one. Now there's great deals on the 5th gen to be had or spend more and get an amazing 6th gen. Plus this time of year is tougher on performance cars. As production ramps up and the turbo 4 becomes available I think they'll do fine. The car looks great and is a performance beast in all levels.

That's a good point. I just realized other than the car of the year award, I have not seen any Camaro advertisements. GM should capitalize on this award and have a few commercials. NFL playoffs start this weekend. A perfect time to advertise to a huge audience.

In general GM's advertising campaigns have been terrible. People talking about WiFi in car...infotainment systems? The stupid as hell bear commercial?

Quick...someone call Michael Bay! The Camaro needs a sales boost...get Bumblebee out there!!!
