Is the GM credit card worth it?

I noticed that some people actually have the GM card and it saves them money, but how does it work? Also I read about only being able to redeem a certain amount for a car even though you might have more?

Yes and mine is about 800.00 now but GM is running double points till 2/29/16, so when my 16 arrives next month I'll get 1600.00 off at my GM dealer. Its on all models till that date.

As you use the GM card, you accumulate 'points' that can be used towards the purchase of a GM car. The more you use the card, the more points you accumulate.

Usually, around the beginning of the year, GM will have special promotions where they bump up your points for a period of time. Sometimes they just double your points for 30 days, sometimes they offer bonus points good for a period of time.

The points you accumulate can be used in addition to any other GM discounts available at the time of purchase.

I have one of the older cards that earns 5% with no limit..i think the newest ones earn 5% but only up to a certain $ amount..then its 2%?? correct me if i am wrong on this...

...I pay my card off every month...so basically...free money towards the Camaro...

I just received a mailer from GMCard...$1000 bonus earnings...and according to what the mailer says...this is on top of normal redemption values..Hopefully mine shows up before 2/29/16...so i can use $2500..

Not sure about that. I've used my earnings on many cars at employee pricing. My last two in fact.

I got the card about 2 years ago and usually in Jan or Feb of each year I get topped off to 3k when only I may have $200+ points. Used the 3k bonus points in the past for a Volt and another year on my current 2015 Camaro. Looking to see if I get it this year and use it to upgrade to a 2016 RS 1LT model.

Thought I remembered this. GM has two cards. We have the old one. Different limits annually.

If you have the Extended Family card you can combine with GMS. I don't think you can with the regular ones.

I've had one for years and have redeemed about $9,000 on GM cars.

I got almost $3k of my 2011 camaro, and now have about $2+K on my card for an upcoming '16 camaro purchase. Show it when they prepare the paperwork, AND, this is MOST IMPORTANT: Review the paperwork for bogus fees, like a security fee, or undercoat fee, etc. They will try to sneak in a bogus fee if they can get away with it.

Keep in mind, you only get points / cash back on what you pay off. I started using my card in August and paid it off every month. Overall gaining 5% points for the first $5K and then 2% after. I was able to get almost $400 off my 16' purchase with my GM card alone.
