At least, that is the case on my Camaro 5.
Ouch, forgot only the SS had the Brembos.

If you wouldn't mind sharing, what was your approximate total cost? Just trying to guage how much I have to drop to keep driving through the winter months.

That will vary dramatically based on what you're willing to accept.

My friend did the set of 18"s with Pirelli Scorpions in 265's and got them for $1200 shipped.
I couldn't take the aesthetic hit and stuck with more aggressive 275's.
Mine ran just under $2400 but I only have to replace tires from now on.

Thanks for the info. I am looking at a 1SS, so I'm guessing the 18" wheels are a no-go. The LPO wheels might not be a bad deal if you use the old ones for the snow tires. I might just pick up a used set of stock wheels. Lots of folks will be buying aftermarket wheels and be looking to unload the old ones.

Yes! Very small world!! I'm off of MacKenzie, south of Lorain Rd near Olmsted Falls.

Back on topic, there are no other options but to get OEM factory sized wheels if you have an SS. That's what I'm looking at as well. I won't be getting my car until at least when the weather breaks, so I won't be buying winter tires right away. I'm hoping by then there will be more options for winter tires for the SS.

Ok, so do you have spacers? Do you have the same tire aspect ratio on all 4?

I'm very interested in your setup if it's a much cheaper route than going with the factory size wheels. I don't intend to set any land speed records when there's 6 inches of snow and it's 20 degrees anyway, so even if there's a big handling difference I'm not concerned. Just want to be safe.

I didn't know there were options other than the factory size wheels due to the Brembos.

No Spacers. The discussion in that thread about spacers was because I was hoping to use the old 18" Steelies from a Gen5 LS model. Those particular wheels would require spacers to be used. The aluminum rims are a different shape so they clear everything just fine.

I bought the following for all four corners, so I can rotate them:
18 x 8 with 35 offset Konigs
245 / 50 R18 Blizzak WS80s

Plenty of clearance at full turn in either direction. Don't think you could go any wider in the front without hitting the strut top. (Besides, narrower is better in the snow).

The summer only tires on the stock 20" rims are not so great below 60 degrees F, and and accident waiting to happen below 40 degrees. So the Blizzaks actually hook up better than the stocks do in the cool/cold. They are tall and "squishy" so they do take away some of the "vette like handling", but they ride super nice and are very quiet (quieter than the stock tires).

Watch for packages to come out from Tire Rack or Discount tire, and you'd be looking arround $1200 to $1500 for a set of wheels/tires/sensors/lug nuts/misc.

17" Weld racing wheels clear the Brembos on the SS so I am sure there are going to be a lot of 18" wheel choices for the SS eventually.

Sounds great, I'll probably get the same package then. Blizzak has had a very good reputation for winter tires for performance cars for a long time. If I get my Camaro (I'm ordering a 2SS 6MT with only a moonroof in silver/jet black) before the winter is over I would actually welcome some snow to test it out.

I paid $1500 from tirerack for 18" tires, rims, lug nuts, etc. They arrived in 2 (two) days.

Sorry to disagree, the 18"s from my 2010 SS fit fine over the Brembos:
http://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=433463
Have at least 5/16" inch clearance.
Brakes on 2016 are actually slightly smaller than 2010 SS.

Could not believe how quickly they got here. I got them installed today at my dealership. They look real nice. Wish I didn't have to swap out the 20" tires and waited a little longer, because up here in Cleveland it is still 45 degrees outside today and no snow in sight. BUT, better safe than sorry. We always get hit with snow. So, I'm sure its coming. It's just a different look to the car with 18" snow tires versus the 20" all weathers on the car.

I will just have to get used to the look of a smaller tire on my hyper blue.

But, on the bright side it is only 3 more months till spring, at least in Cleveland, anyway. So, come April 1st the 20s ARE going back ON!!!!
Did you call to order?
