I am 46. Went into my local dealer the other day to see if they had any 2016's in stock. Both saleamen blew me off. That evening I get a call from the same dealership asking me if I would like to come in and check out the 2 2016's that came in YESTERDAY!!! I told the person on the phone what happened, and will NEVER go into their dealership again. Day after I get I call from Chevrolet corporate asking me what happened. The woman who called must have reported what happened. I'm not for someone loosing their job, but these lazy a$$ pos salesmen need to get fired. They lost almost a $50k sale. So yea, ALL dealers suck a$$.

I got very fortunate and found a dealership in central Ohio that is not sleazy and does not judge their customers. I was 18 when I got my first Camaro there and they have treated me extremely well ever since. Chesrown Delaware in case anyone in the area is curious.

Went into a dealership a month ago & one salesman asked for my tel # & said "I'm going to text you today so you have my number, then I'll let you know when the 2016's get in".
Well, after not getting any text, I went in a week later & talked to a different salesman. He called me 3 times updating me as to how close they were to receiving their first 2016's. Then he called me the night the truck came in & asked me to come in at 9:00 the next morning. When I got there, the FIRST salesman said to me "did you get my text?" and I said "No", & walked with the other salesman to the 2016's. As he went back inside to get the keys, the First salesman actually called my phone trying to sound like he had great news". I told him "You know I've already got someone helping me out here so leave me alone". The 2d salesman went with me on a test drive. He knew EVERYTHING about every control in the car, and what was on the 2 different models they had. he also knew a lot about the C7 & the comparable Mustangs & gave me a wide range of purchasing opinions. he said "I've been waiting to get one of these on the road - thanks for coming in & I'll do what I can for a deal for you". The following week I brought my wife back to see it. She told him she was interested in a 2016 Subaru Outback. Right away, he took her to the Chevy Equinox area & began to explain the differences between the Equinox & the Outback. this guy is in his early 20's & was very knowledgeable not only about the cars at his dealership, but also about other brand's equivalent vehicles. Once the verts come in, it's very likely that he's getting my money - it depends on the discounts available & whether or not I get a better deal from a certain dealer in Michigan...... |

When I drove my CTSV, they would sprint out. When I drove my 01 suburban, crickets. It's just how the majority of anyone who is in sales is.

It's very hard to find good car dealers nowadays, you walk in the dealership and nobody approaches you and even when they do once they find out you're not buying/leasing a car the same day they just lose interest and don't even care anymore...

Those are idiots who are losing commission, and the dealership losing money. If I owned/managed a dealership, those salespeople would be out on their a$$. It's ridiculous how much business is lost due to lazy people.

I understand if I went in and asked to test drive eve car, heck even a car, without wanti to buy 1... I'm sure they get that a ton... But I make it clear, my intentions from the second I walk in.
Looking to buy a car within 60 days.. I'm waiting for these items to go on sale before I order the car.. I'd like the chance to see one, sit in it, and if possible drive it, but not in a rush. But no help.. How can I rub it in their faces when I end up buying one from someone else ? |

Take your car in for service there. While you wait, go stand in the showroom again. If someone asks you, mention that your '16 Camaro is in for an oil change. Brag about the great experience you had with whoever you bought it from. You would really have liked to have bought it here, but you couldn't get anyone to take your money.

I love going to the dealerships when looking to buy a new vehicle. I always feel that I am the one finalizing the deal and not the salesperson.
I just ordered a 2016 Camaro and I purchased(also ordered) a 2015 Stingray earlier this year and I feel that I was able to negotiate a fair price on both vehicles and a fair price for my trade ins. I requested online quotes from about 10 dealers here in Florida and made about 7 physical visits to the dealerships for each of my cars. I took my trade in with me at each visit and got a written appraisal from each dealer that I took the trade in to. I use the dealerships for leverage to make my negotiations and tell the salesperson at each dealer what kind of a deal I can get from the other dealers. I even show them the paperwork from the other dealers. It took me less than two hours to close a deal on the 2016 Camaro last week and about the same for the 2015 Vette this past January. I am nice to them and they are nice to me. I have been doing this since my first new car purchase which was a 1972 Firebird up in Michigan. I have ordered many new cars through the years and recently have bought 2 new Camaros and 2 new Corvettes. I also like the waiting period and anticipation for the arrival of the new vehicle that I ordered exactly as I wanted it. No one to blame but myself for the price I paid or color, options, etc. if I find myself unhappy with the car I bought. So far, I have always been happy with each vehicle and the entire process and also have returned to these same dealers when I want another one. By they way, I always get several email and phone call follow ups from these dealers to check on my interests in their dealership and the vehicle that I want to buy. And, I always get back with each dealer to thank them for their time and also I tell them that I purchased a vehicle from another dealership and this wraps up the total buying experience. They understand. Then I wait for the new vehicle and enjoy it until I want another one. Also, I don't worry about the service part because I can have the cars serviced at any dealer. So far I have had the oil changed on my 2015 Stingray in Texas, Michigan and Florida and I have already logged 20,000 miles on it plus driving my current 2011 Camaro as my daily driver. |

Unfortunately it happens all the time..
My coworker just went down and bought a brand new 2016 Scat Pack Challenger because one of the local Ford dealers wouldn't give him the time of day because he wanted to buy a base GT instead of a loaded car. When he said he wanted to get a 2016 GT/CS Auto 3.55 car...they were practically begging him to do business with them...when he decided he wanted a base GT auto..suddenly he wasn't worth the time anymore. |

back in the day I had that problem. one time I went to 16 dealers before making a purchase. i was paying cash! I walked out on one deal over $5. haha.
a wise dealer (I bought two cars from) told me "we treat everyone like a buyer until they prove otherwise" so there you go. keep hunting.

reminds me of my cousin's experience.
in 2013 he was 28 years old and showed up at our local chevy dealership in his work clothes, which were covered in dirt and partially torn, and in his beaten up personal 90s Toyota truck. he was walking around, waiting for somebody to come help him, but the salesmen would see him and walk past him to other potential buyers. one eventually went up to him and asked if he needed help, but before my uncle could answer, he walked away to go help someone who was just pulling into the dealer's driveway. pissed off, my uncle went to the Toyota dealer around the way where he was instantly assisted, and he went ahead and bought the 14 trucks he needed for his business from Toyota instead of Chevy. I let them know about it when I went to go look for my Camaro, and the salesmen there said they remembered him and heard about it from the Toyota guys who called bragging... as a result, all of the salesmen got written up lol. Edit: some salesmen are too quick to judge or just don't care. that's just the way it is. oh, and the Toyota guy who sold my cousin the trucks was the new guy on the job
