Spacers move the wheel farther away from the hub.

They go between the hub, and the wheel in the desired mm increments for quick clearance issues of wheels that really weren't made for the car and held on by pressure when tightening the lug nuts.

My plan for this winter is I should be taking delivery of my vehicle sometime between February and March, the dealership is working with me to swap out the summer tires for all seasons of my choice, then buy back the summer set. I should be able to get by on all seasons for the remainder of the winter and have a proper setup by next year.
Thanks!!! I'm looking for the CHEAPEST 18"s I can put on this for winter, if anyone already knows of some feel free to post

Here are the pictures of the 18" Steelies on my 1SS
It is bolted on and does spin.

First one: Note only a few mm clearance to caliper.

Rear clearance: Only a finger and a half fits behind

Top Down view

So depending on your level of comfort, steelies with spacers might work. Personally, I wasn't comfortable, so I coughed up the cash for a new set of 18's.

Ok, so It's getting cold, and it's my daily driver, so I pulled the trigger on the wheels/tires. The guys at Discount were great.

18 x 8 with 35 offset Konigs
245 / 50 R18 Blizzak WS80s

(Considered 225/55 for same price but wanted it to look more stock... now I'm curious if the 225's might have been a little more discreet).

They're pretty close at the top of the tire by strut tower... but they move in unison, and there wasn't exactly a ton of room with the stock wheel/tire. PLENTY of clearance everywhere else full turn either way. I believe they said according to the specs there was only 0.07" difference in diameter from original tires.

Not exactly "pretty" but pretty cheap all things considered.

Very interesting!

How long did the fit/install take?

Awesome! They look great for a winter setup. Thanks for sharing!

How much were the tires and wheels? Glad to see an 18" setup works with the SS.

Very nice to see. Not that I will be driving much in the winter, but I don't want to do it on the run flats, and the wheels don't look too bad.

How long did it take? We probably goofed around for an hour on Friday, and another hour today (Tuesday) before I actually picked what I wanted to go with. They could have been done quicker but I was having fun and they were humoring me. They would have mounted up anything I wanted to see I'm sure. They did have another wheel at the same price point, but it had a different offset. We were pretty sure it wouldn't fit, but they offered to mount it up anyway if I wanted to see for myself. The fit on what I had looked spot on, so I didn't waste their time with that one.

The actual mount/balance install was probably only 30 - 40 mins, but I'll admit, I took the whole day off just to do "car stuff" so I wasn't really watching the clock.

As for the question of price: They cut me a bit of a deal from their online listed prices, so I don't want to post it and get anyone in trouble, but I will mention they had a $100 rebate running so that helped.

Thanks for the info! I too plan on taking a day off for new car stuff, but between detail, tires, and tint I might need more than one day!

Edit: plus I forgot, DRIVING!

Well, since the 18x8 +35 konigs fit, I decided to order Advanti Hy Hybris 18x8 +35 wheels for my winter tires.

Thanks for doing all this research. I talked to Tire Rack and they refused to give any suggestions, quote: "We have not measured that vehicle yet so we can provide no recommendations". Did you have new TPMS installed in the wheels? Curious if generic TPMS works. Do the factory wheels fit in the car or did you need to get them home some other way. Thanks!

Thanks for posting.
I think the wheels look GREAT and I want a 18" square wheel/tire set for the winter.

I got a set of Dunlop winters in 245/45R19. I also ordered what I thought was an in-stock set of gunmetal VMR V710s in 19X8.5ET20, which would have moved the wheels 5mm outwards from stock. VMR, being one of the very few decent cast wheel manufacturers that offer oddball offsets, discontinued their +20 offset line in that size; so I ended up having to cancel the order and now I'm stuck with purchasing +35 offset wheels or going full custom. After doing some digging, I found out about Eibach 15mm wheel spacers that should (I hope) fit the car. I'll probably pick up a set of Rotiform SPF wheels in 19x8.5ET35 and use the spacers to get the fit I wanted. I figure high quality spacers like Eibachs won't be an issue on relatively narrow winter tires.

The tires were $954 shipped, the spacers are $236 for all four, and the wheels will be about $250 each... it beats paying $1500+ for the winter Pirellis they have at Tire Rack that fit the stock wheels :/

I'll post a thread with photos and final prices after I have everything mounted, hopefully by the end of next week.

P.S. I have the 6-piston Brembo brake package, so 18s wouldn't fit.
