2016 V6 vs LFX

Does anyone have a 2016 V6 that had a LFX?

I don't think anyone has a 2016 V6 yet. I'd give it another month or two and then ask that question.

The new 2016 V6 Camaro will have the new LGX engine, the LFX is the V6 in the 2015 V6 Camaro.

When the Gen 5 came out the V6 was the LLT, then (I can't remember which year) they switched to the LFX which added a composite intake manifold and an exhaust manifold that was integrated into the head (headifold?), which gave it a bump in HP. The new 2016 Camaro V6 will get the LGX, which is an all new engine, with more HP, and cylinder deactivation for better fuel efficiency.

He is looking to find someone that had the former V6 with the LFX and now has the new V6 with the LGX.

Honestly, if the only different in the car was the engine itself, id say the difference in feel and especially acceleration would be negligible.

But when you put the LGX in the 6th gen Camaro, with its much lighter weight, much better stiffer chassis, and superior transmission, it all adds up to a pretty significant difference.

In terms of straight line acceleration, stock for stock, or mod for mod, the 6th gen will be quicker for sure.

Okay, that makes more sense. I have the LLT and love the engine, but I haven't driven the new LGX yet. But as you said, it may be difficult to guage how much different the engine is with all the changes to the rest of the car.

Thank you kmprenger, that is the comparison I'm asking for. Essentially someone that went from my car to the new v6. I am debating on the new six or eight but don't want to get the six unless I can feel a good improvement. If i cannot I'll go eight.

The 2016 V6 Camaro should be able to run equal or better than any Mustang GT 2010 or older in the 1/4 mile and embarrass them on a road course.

I'm looking forward to test driving the new V6 Camaro but the V8 sound is a must have for both my wife & I that we will be getting a V8 in our next Camaro. We have owned every gen of the Camaro & some Firebirds too.

Absolutely a 2016 V6 will run pretty close to a stock 2010 or older 3V, especially if the V6 has the A8 transmission.

On a road course...a stock manual 2010 GT would have trouble, unless it had the track pack. Those track pack cars were pretty formidable for their day, and even a 4.6 3V enjoys a 50 ft lb torque advantage over the V6 and is only about 100lbs heavier.

I'd give a 2010 GT Track Pack the nod on the road course due to better tires, brakes and torque and the V6 on the drag strip

I did not ask if it could keep up with a mustang or what sound you like. Keep your useless posts out of my threads.

You're not the boss of the thread and you don't get to dictate who posts and what they post.

He was making a statement on the new V6 and comparing it to an older V8.

The thread is about the V6, he was commenting about the V6.

This has NOTHING to do with the question that was asked. Keep your off point statements out of my thread.

The thread is about camaro to camaro v6 comparison. It is not about camaro to mustang or v6 to v8.adding that in just makes it harder to find relevant info when searching. Want to talk about a camaro v6 vs a mustang v8? Make your own thread and ill come over and take it off topic so u can defend my irrational actions.

Just so you know, unless you're a moderator you cannot dictate what opinions can and cannot be expressed in a thread just because you're the originator of the thread. You cannot order people to stop talking about it, you don't have that authority. This thread was civil and a discussion between members, that is until you came in and starting throwing a fit.

Given that few people outside of the media or who have attended GM events have driven a V6 Camaro yet, few are going to have direct, firsthand evaluations. You're going to get a large amount of speculation and conjecture at this early stage, and comparisons to known performance points, IE the Mustang and other cars of similar power and weight.

That being said, the biggest and best feel will come from the weight loss I suspect, not necessarily from dramatic improvements to the engine.
