Performance Air Intake SEMA photos

From SEMA today this system looks very similar to the design of the CAI system on my ZL1

If GM didn't license the design of this intake from CAI Inc., they should have their arses sued off. Complete rip-off unless of course there was some sort of agreement between the two companies.

CAI's design is not unique or special. I have seen designs like that well before they ever came about.

Show me. CAI has been using this design since 2004. This is a carbon copy of their air box from the reflective material, the lid design and even the black trim on the edges.

Unless CAI has some sort of design and or utility patent that GM broke, GM did nothing wrong, ethically or legally.

And some one else was making the exact same thing before they came along... It's a dog eat dog world out there.

Sorry to bust your CAI bubble, but the heat shielding they use looks like it came from the cheap isle in Home Depot. Their box design hardly even fits properly. I have a CAI in my car and it isn't amazing or ground breaking.

I hope CAI improves their quality this time around.

You're not busting my bubble, you're helping to make my point lol. The Chevy CAI shares the exact same heat shielding, box design, edge molding, MAF port, etc. Doesn't look anything like an OEM part. It looks like a CAI Inc. intake.

I was told the part wasn't available yet to order due to licensing. I will also bet knowing that....this is a CAI design as CAI seems to have been the highest end / most popular option sold.

Overall am not a fan of their quality and hope for gen 6 they made the fit and finish a hell of a lot better. Maybe some better mounting points and less shake and wiggle.

Hard to steal a design for an intake when the car isn't released yet. why is it stolen? because it "looks similar" to the Gen 5 CAI. well, similar isn't illegal. and im pretty sure a gen 5 cai wont work on a gen 6.

the box design? pretty sure almost every sealed intake has a similar box.
heat shielding? did CAI invent heat sheading? maybe I missed that.
edge molding? My ADM Race intake has the same exact edge molding as that one...they should probably lawyer up.

stop it...

lol ok. Not sure why people are getting so defensive. If you can't see the similarities between the "GM" cai and a CAI Inc. intake, you're trying not to see it. And by similarities, I mean carbon copy. Don't be surprised to hear that there was some sort of collaboration between the two companies.
