Wow?!?!?! I sure hope there's a good story to go along with this comment.

Cops are people; some are good at their jobs and some suck. There's always bad ones just like there are bad lawyers, bad teacher, bad doctors, bad clergy members, and bad whatever it is you do for a living.

If a fine for speeding, running a red signal or careless driving was only 5 dollars, I wouldn't feel safe driving out there. Would you? Who would obey the law?

Next time your car is stolen, or your house is broken into, or heaven forbid something terrible happens to a loved one... don't you dare call one of those lying, money grabbing cops!!!

That's just my 2 cents with 24+ years in law enforcement.

He asked me if i knew why i was being pulled over. KNOWING i was going AT or UNDER the posted speed limit, I DID NOT KNOW why I was being pulled over... So with him arguing the fact he THOUGHT it was a 55 mph zone, when in fact it was a 65 mph zone, I chose to not listen to him and ask for his supervisor, which i knew would have to drive past the same sign that I saw. Would you have taken the ticket and then have to fight it in court? that, my friend would have been stupid, Still want to know what part of the story you thought I was being a smart-ass too! please share!
Why even bother giving him a response? He sounds like the guy that thinks cops can never be in the wrong, trying to justify giving a man a ticket just for having an attitude (which I don't think you had)

Nothing you did was wrong, and even the supervisor agreed with you on that.

I can be as rude as I want, it's not a crime. Would I do that? No, but if someone decides to do so that's their own choice and does not justify a cop harassing them over it. Do LEOs have a hard job? Yeah, but if they can't handle that stress then they shouldn't be cops. It's no excuse. Do you expect someone getting pulled over to be happy to see a cop pulling them over and making them late for work? No, they're going to be in a bad mood, especially if they weren't even speeding.

There is a big difference between OP and this guy:

Wow this whole thread is pathetic... OP gets illegally detained for NOT breaking the law. Officer isn't man enough to admit that he made a mistake and wastes the OPs time on the side of the road over pure BS. And somehow the OP is still a bad guy for not getting on his knees and caressing the officers balls? Please.... get a grip people. Just because someone is a police officer does not eliminate the fact that respect is a two way street.

agreed. I wouldn't talk to a homeless convict the way some of you guys claim to talk to these cops. if you expect the worst as soon as the lights flip on, you will most likely get the worst

Everyone is right here!

OP did nothing wrong.

Being nice goes a long way.

Regardless of which side of the argument you choose the other is just as correct.

A person who cooperates with me and is not a smartass.....will usually drive off with a warning or nothing at all. Remember folks, driving is a privilege, not a right.

Do you have no idea how bad that sounds? You of all people are supposed to be above that being an "authority figure." Same as saying "I'm not afraid to abuse my power." Wow!!!

Oh come on. 1 person actually bashed cops as a whole and he was pretty much immediately jumped on by everyone else for doing it. So there is no law enforcement bashing happening here.

I think 1 person mentioned something political and much like myself folks ignored him. General discussion in a general thread.

I have always had a 'lead-foot' when it came to hotrod cars that I owned. So when I took delivery of my '15 1SS, I decided that I needed to keep my foot at a respectable distance from the floor. I have watched many folk get speeding tickets since I had my last hotrod, and I don't want to join them.
In the mid 70's, it was a Trans Am as well as in the 80's. Surprised at the attention local LEO's gave the wife and me whenever we were driving the car. This Camaro seems to be a magnet for the Black and Silver here in NC.
So far I've managed to behave myself.
We'll see where this goes................

I'm 49 and I get followed from time to time by the police and once they see I'm some old guy they usually just give me a thumbs up so you'll be fine if you do what I do and go out in the country where no one else is around to have fun.
