Looks like they had 2 SS cars mags could test. A base 1ss with a manual and a fully loaded a8 2ss.
Seing as how the a8 2ss with MRC is even faster than the 1ss the gap would have been larger. Fact is, the Camaro had the cards stacked against it and it demolished the GTPP. |

Oh the Camaro cleaned house no doubt...but I'm wondering how the Camaro had the cards stacked against it?

------------ As far as H2H...it's a spanking, like I have said many times on mustang6g. Ford needs to respond for 2017, otherwise its EMBARASSING. On top of the SPANKING in the 1/4m there is NO PP on the Mustang GT for Auto. Mustang has old tech, like the 6speed auto, and no pp for auto. Autos are the fastest performers now, it's like Ford thinks it is still 15yrs ago. So bizarre |

So let me get this right, you can get a $47,300 Mustang that doesn't come with MRC, dual mode exhaust, and is heavier and slower than a loaded 2 SS and people still think the Camaro is over priced?

only mustang fanboys and some cruiser types who wouldn't use the trackish performance parts 1 place Chevy is leaving money on the table is the 'cruiser' type though that want a V8, good looks, and don't care about lap times. They don't even want the hard suspension etc that makes the Camaro cost a bit more. If the Mustang outsells 6g camaro it will be on a practical basis in that there are only so many enthusiasts who love hard suspensions and will pay more for that. 95%+ of the general public don't want that even if they are buying a coupe. They will see the Mustang is more comfortable, has a bigger trunk, and costs $4000 less. They'll be OK with it being a few ticks slower for the 4K+other things they value. On top of it, Ford added a "wheel and appearance" package for 2016 that gives you 19's and leather seats for 995. Cruisers can get V8, leather for $3000 less than a 1SS I know there isn't anything Chevy can do now about the trunk but they could boost sales by de-coupling the BBK, hard suspension/performance pack type stuff that the Mustang separates into the PP. Of course Ford is leaving $ on the table with no auto PP. But I think more buyers actually don't want PP, sadly, so I'm not sure that this move will work for Chevy. I wouldn't be surprised if they eventually have a cheaper option with less go fast track parts. |

If Mustang continues to sell as well as it is now, Ford won't do a damn thing. Which as a fan of Mustang, leaves me with the juxtaposition of wanting it to continue to sell well, so Ford keeps making them, and still wanting Ford to make improvements to keep both sides reaching for the next higher step.

I really miss on this MT edition the lap times posted by Randy Pobst. I don't have any doubt that the new SS will beat the '15 Mustang GT, Camaro 1LE, prior Mustang BOSS Laguna Seca & even the BMW M3 & M4. What I'm very curious is to see it compared to the ZL1 & GT350.

I didn't even argue. All I said was that the Mustang is slower than the Camaro. They got all pissed off cause I stated a fact.

I like that the tires on the Mustang is wider than the SS, but that's just about it. Awesome article.

Also not sure if your saw C&D review of the 2SS that put down better numbers than this 1SS did. Car and Driver 2SS: http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/...ic-test-review Price: $47,480 Transmission: 8 Speed Auto Zero to 60 mph: 3.9 sec Standing ¼-mile: 12.3 sec @ 116 mph Also to note... the price as tested is about $120 off between the Mustang tested in this article and the one at C&D. The 2SS is also still 65lb lighter than the GTPP tested. Now for even more factual details from MT October 2014 - Ford Mustang GTPP H2H results from the 2015 Ford Mustang GTPP vs. 2015 Chevrolet Camaro SS 1LE. Ford Mustang: Price: $46,380 Transmission: 6 speed manual Zero to 60 mph: 4.4 sec Standing ¼-mile: 12.8 sec @ 112.2 mph October 2015 - Ford Mustang GTPP H2H results from the 2015 Ford Mustang GTPP vs. 2016 Chevrolet Camaro 1SS Ford Mustang: Price: $47,350 Transmission: 6 speed manual Zero to 60 mph: 4.6 sec Standing ¼-mile: 12.9 sec @ 110 mph I would say lets get a 8 speed auto Mustang in here... but I guess they are slower than the manuals.

From your reasoning, you seem to think that possible Mustang/Camaro customers are cross shopping these vehicles with a Camry or Accord. Nobody would do this unless trunk size is a top priority. Non-enthusiasts also care about driving dynamics. Chevy has produced the overall superior car (for now). I will agree that for future model years Chevy might de-content some standard items to be options in the future. Last edited by Bongos2U; 10-24-2015 at 01:07 AM. |
