Drive the new car - look it over -- and I think you'll agree. We checked all the boxes.

When I buy a 6th Gen I am going with Becky, best there is, best there was, best there ever will be.

I find a lot of 5th gen owners to be completely pompous. I've owned 4. It's a great car but deserving of its critiques. The 6th gen is better and there is no denying that. It's simple progress. GM does their homework. Let the haters hate.

Fbodfather,

Did you have a 4th gen modification / maintenance website? I seem to remember doing the skip shift delete off your website guide? Used it for a few other things as I recall.

I see some of current 5th Gen owners hating on it when it does all performance metrics better. I am not saying this applies to everyone, but there is a common theme when a company redesigns a car... There is a segment of the previous gen owners rationalize their ownership of the "old" product. The truth is, you can actually like both, and not have to purchase another. I have seen this with Corvettes, Camaros, and Mustangs; the story always plays out the same. This is not a knock on the 5th gen - that car, to me, is fantastic, and we loved ours.

Also, people doubted the performance would be as good as GM hinted at. Then when all reviews are pretty unanimous, people refuse to believe them saying things such as:

"GM buys reviewers"
"GM gave the reviewers ringers to tip sales"
"Reviewers are GM biased"
etc

Here's the thing about 1/4 mile numbers... Yes, the 5.0 can run 12.6s stock. Some may even be faster than that. The average is probably 12.7-12.9 range. When C&D or R&T run 12.8, or 12.9 in the 5.0 compared to the Camaro's 12.3 or 12.4, there are Mustang owners that go into an nasty rage because they know a guy on the internet that went 12.5 stock. First off, you're assuming too much when you say this. Yes, there will always be people out there that outperform intial magazine tests. However, this will also apply to the Gen 6 Camaro. I promise that people will break into the 11s stock. Not going to happen for all, but some will - then everyone will claim the new Camaro runs 11s when most will not do this in stock form. I would also like to say, for the record, I owned a 2011 GT Premium for 4 years. I know that the 5.0 is a capable platform.

Also, on a final note to end my book, just because someone at your local dragstrip says, "it's stock", doesn't make it true. I don't care if it's your best friend. I used to participate in the local racing scene, and I can testify first hand that everyone is in a secret competition to be the fastest, and not telling the truth about mods, and trying to hide mods, and trying to deceive are all part of the game. There is a guy on the C7 fast list running bottom 11s "stock". Do you believe that? I don't. No matter what the guy says, or how hard he professes it. I wish more people would use their heads and just appreciate performance regardless of the brand. When the horsepower wars kick it up, we all win.

But, in the end, haters gonna hate. Haters make us famous.

Totally ridiculous how overused/misused the word "hate" has become. And seriously, did you really say "haters gonna hate"! Cringe.

They hate us because they anus.

Everyone has the right to voice their opinions, nothing wrong with that. I personally grab some coffee or popcorn and just enjoy it. Same endless "bashing/argument/criticism/whatever you want to call it" will happen all the time and every time with every subject. The 9mm vs .45 was mentioned, actually according to FBI's studies, .22, 9mm and .45 all have between 2 and 3 bullet stopping power @ 25 yards. So... You can say it doesn't matter what caliber but where you place it and how well you place it.

Just senseless bs, it's always gonna happen. Same thing happened on vette forums, same thing happened on every single forum/person/internet/group for vehicles. Nothing new.

I just have to keep reminding myself that I don't need the V8. I can't drive like that guy who was thrashing that black SS around the race track.

I'd love to learn how but, I'm not going to destroy my car doing it.

The sound of the LT1 is so intoxicating I keep wondering if I should have. I know that I'm going to love the V6 and that ultimately I made the right decision for my daily driver..... Its just that little nagging doubt that sticks in the back of the mind.
Don't worry about not owning the V8. Seriously. The V6 is going to be a fantastic car. I absolutely loved my modified 5th gen V6, and this is will be that much better. Just make the decision to be happy and proud of your purchase. Its as simple as that.

By the time I got finished making my V6 my own, I wouldn't have traded it straight up for just any SS....now maybe for another Aqua Blue SS...then probably lol.

I know I'm going to love my 2016 SS....but even I wonder if I bought too much car. I will never track or race the car. "spirited driving"...of course! (OK...so there is a chance I may make it to some track just for fun, but the closest 1/4 mile track is like a 2 1/2 hour drive from here) Oh wells....I finally got my dream machine!

As a fan of the Camaro, Corvette, and Mustang, I would hope that every iteration had a performance increase and tech increase.

The only real complaint I understand are the bundles you're forced to purchase if you like only a couple pieces of it. I remember in the 4th gens, leather was an a la carte option for $500. If you want leather now, you have to buy a trim level that bumps the price by $5,000. It's insanity. I guarantee many 1SS owners would want leather for $500-$1,000 extra.
Agreed. I would prefer a 1SS, NPP and leather. Price jump is too high for for 2SS so you basically gotta do aftermarket leather for around $1200.

I used to go to the Mustang Forums all of the time, but since this car has dropped, I've never seen so much butt hurt in my entire 39 yrs on a forum. It's deep over there to where it's embarrassing just to browse their threads.

I go through it owning a GTR. I'm automatically called a GTR fan boy for just buying one. haha. It's the net. Almost everyone who gets on here and types that garbage would never say it to my face so. If anything, they'd be all googley eyed on my GTR. Even when I had my Zl1. Tons of mustang owners jocking me. But, get online, it's a different story.

Nothing wrong with the GTR bro, thing is a certified beast, a little tame in the looks to cost department IMHO, but nonetheless an awesome machine.

For sure. To me, cars are just cars. I buy a new one every 9 months so. I love the GTR. I will say to me, coming off a 640hp Zl1, stock, the GTR was a dog. I won't lie. But, now it's tuned w/a few mods, I'm loving it. Yea, that's the thing with the GTR. I never got into them. It took me a few years to warm up. I saw a few here and there and I could never freaking take my eyes off one. Then, I'd look at pics and watch videos online and I got bored again. Then, I'd see one on the road and be like....damn, that thing is a beast. It's prob the only car I've owned in my life that I admit it looks terrible in pictures. But, in person. It's gorgeous. You can't pick up the lines from pics and videos. Now, the Zl1? Shit, watched one video, did some research, bought a '14 sight unseen. haha. Didn't even hesitate. The Zl1 was a monster.
