I mean, congrats to them... But why get in line first, when this is how it is going to be? Next time I will wait until production is in full swing and avoid this anguish.

Every manufacturer has their own ways of banging out orders as fast as they can to make as many people happy as they can ASAP. This usually gets extremely strategic when a backlog of work exists, such as pre-orders on a line not running yet. It's all decision making to get the cars in the most customer hands in the shortest amount of time possible.

As I said earlier, I think that even though I'm sitting at 3400, and you're at 3100, our cars will both actually ship at the same time. When they standardize builds based upon criteria such as colors, engines, etc, there is far less changeover when manufacturing and this speeds us the overall process. So, where they may focus on NGM and GRM cars on a Monday, they may choose to do only Summit White and Red Hot on Tuesday. In the end, it will get more cars done than if they mixed all 4 colors (or other options) over the same 2 days.

I guess I was hoping by getting my order in early meant I could possibly get a very low vin number. In general that was the only reason why I jumped to get my order in so quickly and have been on top of everything I needed to do as a consumer. That seems to not be the case now. I think that is what has me the most bummed.

I see where you're coming from there, but that isn't even known yet. You still have a week to get 3400 status - and you will. Once you hit that, you're on even ground with all the current 3400s.

I do remember on the 5th Gens, they got a special RPO code for pre-ordering before a specific date. It was R6P. Now that was cool and I wish the 2016 had something similar.

Yea i get you, sucks to know that your not in 3400 if you were of the first ones to order, I'm shocked im in 3000 status and i ordered mine on 9/22.
