Thank you in all your responses the topic was more of a Let's think about this, instead of shooting from the hip. Enjoyed reading. You all had great points. I think the ZL1 is the best road car ever built. I have owed a SRT 392 Challenger, A GT 500 Mustang. They do not handle the Highway as good as the ZL1. But I am going to order a GT 350 because the change in the car intrigues me.(The ZL1 will stay in the garage and will not be traded)

Good things come to those who wait - I like the GT350, but now that i've seen what I believe is the ZL1, i'm liking ZL1 and very excited to see how it turns out, i have no doubt the ZL1 will be the better car. The GT350 is awesome, I think the Voodoo will be great, hope there isn't' too much vibration on it though.

So we have to hope that people like the new styling as well and it is enough to carry the car forward. I think once we start seeing these cars in person, and on the road the difference will be more apparent than they are coming across in photos. The new Mustang for instance has a nice wide and low profile that really looks great and grabs your attention (although I still think the car looks awkward from certain angles). Hopefully 6th gen Camaro will touch on that same page, although the 5th gen was already closer to this than say the 5th gen Mustang was. A refresh is only going to do so much...front and rear-end changes, but that side profile is going to remain the same throughout its run. Again going back to my previous comments, aside from styling (in some opinions), they did everything they needed to do and then some.

I don't think a bunch of you gents know how car buying works. It's designed to be this way for a reason. A fully loaded Camaro will cost almost what a base Vette will cost, however once a person becomes committed to buying a vette because it costs a little more than the Camaro, that's when the sales person will be able to go in and see if they can push the sale and get some options thrown in. Besides, it's only a bit more than the Camaro and you get to have a corvette. Before you know it, that $55k Corvette ended up being $70k.

I only agree with you on the design aspect, mechanically I think the car is great (LT1 with the the Tremec, options for NPP and MRC that you can't even get on a Mustang).
The front looks great (aside from a few of the unnecessary lines on the hood) so they clearly spent a majority of their time on that, while the the rear got left behind and barely changed at all. For some that may not be a problem, but for me it is because I actually preferred the initial quad tail lights the 5th gen had. Then they had the mid-cycle refresh which was a step backwards. Again though, will have to see it in person to truly gauge how I feel about it. Needs to hit the lots already! |

Yeah.. Idk that was a good analogy. Or even a good MEMORY. The C6 was BLASTED for the DIFFERENCES from the C5. Non popups, tail lights, etc... The C6 was quite different from the C5 and caught a ton if flack bc of it.

Must be my memory going. I do recall the controversy about abandoning the pop up headlamps.

I am keeping my AMB 5th Gen and getting a new Hyper Blue 6th. I think the styling of the exterior is nice but not ultimately that huge of a difference. The thing that attracts me to the 6th is that it is pretty much the same as a Corvette if you get the SS option. I really like all of the new technology in my 'vette, so now I can have it in my new Camaro. If I weren't so sentimentally attached to my 5th gen, I might trade up. I figure a lot of 5th gen people who bought early on will trade up, though. The 6th gen is a nice improvement on what they already love. Why not? Last edited by Dr. Love2; 09-18-2015 at 04:04 PM. |

If you are someone considering a 45K 2SS (so lets say automatic transmission and one or two other things also) and you let yourself be talked into a 70K Corvette you are either: 1) Plenty wealthy and it doesn't matter 2) An idiot with no financial responsibility. Those that actually care about the cost of a 2SS with a few options and a griping about cost aren't going to be moving into a Corvette, especially one with options.

Whatever you think of the Gen6 styling, its clearly a break with being a muscle car. I think that may be what the OP is feeling.

Sorry the 5th gen was no more a muscle car than the 6th gen is. Both are 2+2 and have the largest displacement engine. Not even going to get into the muscle/pony car argument because the history is plain enough to see. In reality, only the Challenger is closest to being a muscle car by the original definition, but then of course the Challenger was a pony car too.
