I just hope that whatever they call the car, if it has the LT4 and is a grand touring type, you know, with MRC and comfy seats, Nav, etc. and I can afford it, well, then call it the Camaro whatever, I personally won't be offended if they don't stick to tradition.

That thing is a zl1 for sure.lets say what I like and what I dont like.loved the hood but the front fender gaps are too big.and the spoiler....I was expecting something big and cool like the z06 spoiler or cts V.but look at that acceleration that 911 look very slow back there.LOL.compared to the camaro.GM I love you

I for one do not want an LT4 engine in the next Z/28, we don't need it for the performance target window of this car. The 5th gen car didn't need it and it was heaver to start with so the new car will be starting off much better.

I think that for those looking for a Z28, and lets admit it, there aren't many that can afford one, your sentiment is shared. the LS7 was light, everything about the Z28 is about the track and for that reason I'm personally just not that interested in what they decide to do for that variant, if they build one. If I were looking for a Mustang, the same thing for me would be that I'm just not that interested in the GT350R, but the GT350, perhaps.

Obviously by now you know what i'm interested in and so I must declare that this prototype we are talking about MUST be a ZL1

Good point.if it lost weight and the LS7 had enough HP to make the old body dance well on track, why not use it again??thats of course if there will be z28 again which I highly doubt.if the SS can get close to GT350 with 460 Hp why can't a 580/650 HP zl1 beat the R?

If GM decides to make a LT4 powered Z28 I would be ok with it. This would follow the corvette ZR1 to Z06. All I know is if it has the LT4 rated at least 640hp and 3950lbs, I will own it

But as stated, there is no need to call that a z/28 when there is already the ZL1 name out there. Just call it a ZL1 and don't make a z/28. The stingray/corvette team also never said emphatically that there will not be a higher model Stingray. Just stated there is not one now. And they supercharged a preciously N/A platform. So if this is a supercharged car, it does not automatically mean the Z/28 name is combined with ZL1.

can we stop saying it HAS to be this, or it HAS to be that? Al O already said they might buck old trends when he mentioned the Z/28 a month ago, Im pretty sure that means all bets are off in terms of naming; well get a track oriented car, itll be wicked fast, itll be track capable, and thats about all we know.

whatever this thing is, its a track car, its got the tow hook built right in to the front end.

I seriously doubt this car will have a tow hook from the factory.

The z28 is going to replace the 1le as the track beast, it will come with options much like the gt350/r priced around 50-60k, some type of NA engine with 500 plus HP. There will be a lt4 powered ZL1 much along the lines of the Zl1 we know and love. I'll be happy to eat crow if I am wrong, but I am confident this is the way its going down.

If the Camaro team follows the Corvette team's lead then I think we are looking at a Z/28. The only other engine that is rumored to be in the pipeline is the LT5, 560HP twin turbo, supposed to be a Cadillac exclusive engine. The big question besides the name is what will this prototype cost, maybe in-between the GT350 and GT350R and be faster than both of them.

The 1LE could be a package added to a standard Z/28 much like the GT350 and GT350R.

I wonder if they will bring the Iroc name back. I know they kept mentioning it as a compare earlier in model testing
