I wouldn't worry about the weight of the muffler....Aftermarket exhausts (I have Stainlessworks) are pretty heavy....they replace the stock tubing with a heavier, larger diameter Stainless....Just sayin I think the majority of the weight is in the tubing, not the cans...even if you go muffler delete, it's not much different in weight, you're adding back more tubing ....But it's a fun mod for sound, etc....

That NPP looks like the best of both worlds, and yes you can very inexpensively paint the part the shows...

The aero can go either way.....I believe the V-6s and I-4 has aero design for mileage, actually creating up-lift....Whereas Performance aero, which produces down-force at speed, is actually worse for mileage, but better for handling, is how the SS aero is designed.....

With that being said the first word that comes to mind looking at that undercarriage, cluster****.
Care to elaborate on how this is a "Cluster F..."?

An exhaust with more bends than a Gen5, four lowest bidder electric motors w/gear reduction and a muffler with more corrugated steel than a trash can. Pretty good example of a cluster**** if you ask me.

Don't get me wrong it's seems like it'll be a decent car but at what point is too much just that? There's a lot going on that did nothing but add to end user cost which so far hasn't gone over well with more than a few people. And at this point there's no way it could live up to the hype and I'd rather see a lot of these features on future performance versions.

Yeah that underbody is pretty much the complete opposite of a cluster ****. Looks clean and tidy. Going to have to make some sacrifices somewhere with the smaller package, but looks like they did a great job.

I think the undercarriage looks pretty tidy as well. Just be thankful the NPP exhaust can be tuned to your preference. Pretty sweet if you ask me.

ok, interesting points i suppose, but the bends on this exhaust system are completely innocuous, they clearly did not use crush bending, the diameter of the pipes are unchanged throughout the system, i don't see anything wrong with what they did.

How do you know the quality of the flap motors? Did someone outbid your company? And why would this component be any different than any other - GM cared that all the other things met their specifications, except these motors?

I don't see any corrugated steel, this is what third world folks use for roofs, and I don't see any.

My only complaint is they should paint the muffler black.

Then get the manual, that gets rid of the AFM. then you can just get an after market setup exhaust.

So according to your engineering expertise, what exactly is going on that does nothing but add cost to the end user? I'm sure GM just threw stuff on the car for no reason that cost them extra money to do so? Or more likely it sounds like your are just talking straight out of your ass.

I totally agree with ilirg. Some people are sure blowing smoke. Stop trying to be an automotive engineer and stick with your day job. Chevy engineers know what they're doing.

H. R. Giger would be proud! So, it's a narrower body. That's why a traditional radiator won't fit? I understand the direct Injection engines run hotter, so additional cooling is necessary. I'm amazed that 200 lbs. has been dropped per model considering the complexity of the specimen. I can't stop looking, I must paint you... Nice write up, can't wait for the reviews. SS vs. M3 vs. ?

AFM tuning gone on stick but still get the AFM build in the engine. Been discussed on other thread. Although, I see no threads on AFM lifter failure /oil burn on the 5gen which I think the autos had AFM??
