If 6th gen drives like an ATS, Then...

A friend's BMW 3 series's lease was over, so he traded that and got an ATS with 3.6.

I got to drive it yesterday and I had driven his BMW before, which was fantastic and in corners. But before he even made any remarks, I said "This car drives and corners even better than BMW". He smiled and said "I wanted to see what you have to say. I think the exact thing. Drives like (or even better than) a European car."

So, if the Camaro, drives as well as ATS, we have got a great DD.

I hope so. I really like the ATS-V after seeing that head to head with the C63 AMG S. If the backseat was a little bigger and the interior was a bit more updated, I'd be strongly looking at one. I hope the Camaro SS performance is comparable

Not sure if that great driving was specific to ATS or it's the result of the Alpha platform in general. it feels very balanced and precious in turns. I hope the Camaro is like that too.

I would put my money on the new chassis being the major factor in what you experienced in the corners.

I can't wait to:
1. see the car in person
2. drive it because we all know it's gonna rock.

Gotta agree, as my wife has one also. Can't wait to see what this chassis does with an LT1 under the hood. Just waiting for the 5 split spoke aluminum forged wheels to become available and we're ordering a Magenta Red Tintcoat with black metallic rally stripes.

Its almost as if the Cadillacs are becoming the driver's car the bimmers used to be. My friend is a long time die hard bmw driver and complained about the new cars being too soft.

That's exactly what my friend said and that was the reason he switched.

He has been driving BMW for a long time and he said BMW has lost it's roots of being a "Driving Machine".

Very little body role, yet comfortable.

Not sure. I only drove it once and didn't ask.
It was fairly new, since it was lease. Maybe 2012 or 2013.

Oh ok. I only ask b/c I've heard all the same on the BMW forums. But a lot of times the people complaining have X Drive and with it you have to have the DHP package for it to feel sporty at all. Also a lot didn't get the sport suspension in the Sport or Msport line models. Basically they would all describe it as "Camry like". I've got a Sport line.

I know mine corners well and feels planted and stable in the corners. But I notice body roll in it still. The feel of the ATS is quite different from everyone I have heard drive it. I really think the EPS on the 3 series is the main problem and better tires instead of the RFTs would make it a big difference, at least compared to the ATS.
