A 1ss m6 in 2010 was quoted at both 3849 and 3860 lbs. I seen both figures.

All this work and bragging for a 50 lb weight loss compared to the 2010 car. I just don't think they will miss by that much. If they do what a shame.

At equal weights the GT still might have an advantage with the superior torque multiplication of the MT-82 provides. But who knows as on paper at equal weights the Camaro should be slightly quicker.

They didn't, but many went off this article.

It needs the torque multiplication because it is down on torque and makes less power lower in the curve. And that will make up for 20 hp and 55ft lbs of torque?
It can barely make up for that currently....compared to a heavier car with 30 less hp/35tq.

I disagree looking at how the ls3 m6 times in the current 3900 lb 426 hp 5th gen compare to the new heavier and irs hindered mustang gt. In other words...get rid of that ~100 lb advantage they still have and guess what...small advantage gone. And we will never know how an ls3 auto could have run.

Both hero times for m6 cars are very close. Even mag tests same day same track they are neck and neck with a small trap advantage to the 5.0.

The ls3 has an inferior torque curve to the lt1 as well.

At equal weights the Camaro will still run away from the new 5.0. Guarantee it. With the a8 and no driver error/equal conditions it shall be even uglier.

Maybe I shouldn't say walk away...but their will be no question which car is faster.

The real close competition at the strip will be against the scat pack...and if I had to guess GM benchmarked those cars as well.

Wait a manual has torque multiplication? I was under the impression that is concept for torque converters.

Even if they had simply dropped an LT1 in a 5th gen and called it a day, the new GT PP would still lap slower. The PP is not that aggressive...period.

Just a question out of curiosity, how much heavier is the LT1 than the LS3?

Just talking more aggressive gearing in general is how I took it.

Which is how most cars with higher revving lower torque characteristics are geared when performance is in mind.

My Mustang is an absolute lug at lower RPM.

That appears to be his final answer. Any idea where these #s came from?
If those numbers come true...I still won't like thePill and I still think he's a Mustang fanboy for the ages, but I'll make a statement here "virtually" shaking his hand, telling him I apologize and I was wrong, and that GM and Chevy team suck hard.

Then I'll still be happy when I pick up my 2016 SS Camaro lol.

On the flip side, if his predictions are wrong, you won't hear a peep out of him. Either that, or he will spin it in his favor. Guaranteed.

That number would mean the V6 only lost roughly 130 lbs when compared to the current 1LT (not the 1LS). SS roughly 100 pounds when compared to current 1SS trim. It would be an epic fail of mass proportion on team Chevy's part for saying anything about 200+ pounds of curb weight lost....there is virtually no way to spin that into 200+ pounds lost.

They didn't. Ford only said they hit their "target weights". It was the forum goers that hyped up the weight loss.

Of course, if I was a fanboy such as several on the M6 site, I'd be saying "OH WHATEVER BUDDY, FORD SAID IT ALL ALONG..THEY LIED!!!!!"

I am a bit surprised that the LT1 is heavier, but I had heard that it was.
