AutoTrans comes w/ rear axle, 2.77 ratio

Gas mileage move? not going to be very aggressive with that.

True, but combine that with the really low ratios of the first few gears and I have no doubts the SS will get out of the hole pretty damn quick. There was a chart floating around with the gear ratios and I think the first few gears were lower than the MN6 with 3.73's or whatever it has.

There is an unequal amount of good and bad in most things, the trick is to work out the ratio and act accordingly.

+1

I think 1st and 2nd gear are more aggressive in the a8. 3rd might go to m6. Like u said that chart was floating around here a month ago cant remember all the details.

The a8 will move out and return good mpg. The advantage of 8 speeds. No worries.

Here you go. Also here's a link showing the gears of the 8HP70 used in teh Charger/Challenger. As far as I can find there's no difference in gearing between Dodge trucks and cars. The rear ratios on the Charger/Challenger range from 3.05-.09 it appears. So they are geared a bit more aggressively but also take a slight hit to MPG. The A8 makes them just barely avoid a GG tax.

Also note the Z51 is geared similar to the 6th gen SS.

Gearing depends on both the transmission ratio & the axle ratio. Just because its got a tall final drive doesn't mean that its going to be a dog, especially when there are 8 gears to choose from. Look at the chart in the link in the 2nd part of my post & you'll see that the 1st is still more aggressive in the auto even with its somewhat tall axle ratio.

Here is the post with the chart comparing the 2016 SS manual & automatic:

I've never seen that chart before. With an automatic, the V6 gets about 20% taller gearing than the turbo4. It might get interesting to see how the fuel economy of those two compare.

Think you mean the LT cars get a 20% taller gearing. I think read they did that to make up for lower torque at low rpm. Something about "giving them an extra kick off the line".

Great Link, wow they made up a bit for it in that 1st & 2nd gears.
This car is going to be so much fun to hold those gears a bit.

No, I was talking about a difference in final drive ratio between the two different engines offered in the LT when equipped with an automatic. 3rd column (8L45, 2.0L & 3.6L), last row (Final drive ratio). For the 2.0L its 3.27 but the 3.6L gets 2.77. So the V6 auto is going to be getting roughly 20% taller gearing than the turbo4 automatic.

Yes...it will be plenty aggressive.

Its an 8 speed automatic...it doesn't need 3.73s.

Keep in mind the regular Vette comes with 2.42s or something like that, while the Z51, which has turned deep 11s in the 1/4 comes with nearly exact same gearing as the A8 in the SS.

It will be just fine.

I wonder what the redline and power band is on the 2.0L turbo?

This is for the CTS variant of that engine, should be very similar to the one going into the Camaro.
