Besides fulfilling the curiosity of enthusiasts, why should they?

I say release weight now.....or performance specs, and then release the other a month later....just so we can all wait a little longer in agony for more information lol.

Ha!

But for real, I'm guessing they will release both together in a few weeks.

They are hoping more people preorder the 6th gen before the hammer drops on the spec.s

Could go either way depending on the specs the give. I say hold it close to your vest so you don't give your competition more time to "one up you" on their next model.

Actually, depending on how good they know the performance numbers to be it might pay GM to hold off just a little longer before releasing the numbers. Ford just had journalists getting their first drives in the GT350 today. If the magazines go ahead and release any numbers from that and the Camaro numbers are close to those of the GT350 for with a 2SS at a lower price it would be a nice trump.

The 16 Mustang is a done deal, as is the Challenger. The implied performance of the Gen 6 just based on numbers is enough to work with.

Usually numbers are held close until late for fear of being disappointed

No.

Delayed and slow rollout of info has been the case from the beginning on this car.

Speedlslife, I can not recall ever hearing or seeing numbers are held for late release because of concern the numbers would be disappointing. I have consistently heard or seen they are held close to the vest for competition reasons.

Does not mean you are wrong. Just means this is a new one for me.

Or it could have been a consistent/persistent theory I never paid attention to before today.

+ make leather seats/Bose audio available for the 1ss

+ make the 5-split spoke Black wheels an option instead of an accessory

And everyone is talking and speculating about everything from price to performance to the options list on different models.

It's a marketing strategy. A slow bleed of info to keep the brand in the news, a la the NFL.

Delayed and slow roll out of info in the industry standard.

This has been true since before I was born, and I am a member of the boomer generation.

I disagree. Mustang still has the rumored GT500. 2015 Mustang sales have staggered, and the price points and deals are all ready to be had. If they roll out numbers now, Mustang can quickly react by dropping the price even more or potentially release a car with more options to match the new specs vs. performance price gap.

It's a huge dance of Marketing, PR and engineering. In general this stuff is all planned out and has been planned out. We know they have benchmarks from at least nine tracks from around the world. They know the final weight of the cars, the have to have the final specs of the 0-60, and quarter mile. A few months back they said they had both a 15 Mustang and new 16 Camaro side by side and they are not worried about the competition.

If you think for one second Ford's marketing team doesn't have plans to release an update or adjusted options, you're crazy.

I for one do not thing GM is holding the numbers because we would be disappointed. We all know how the CTS-V performs, we all know how the LT1 equipped Corvette performs. Not much to hide as we know where these cars sit in the performance line up.
