The 5th gen will remain top dog. No Mustang, Challenger or new Camaro will out do what the Gen 5 did. What does it matter? if they sell 250,000 they will make money and keep the Camaro brand alive.

I believe the new Mustang will have something to say about those numbers.

I agree most people aren't brand loyal if they want a v8 sports car and don't have 39,000 for a base v8 they will go to ford and get one for the low 30,000.

Why do you skew the numbers so bad? One car is 33k and the other is 37k. Not 30 and 39 base to base. 4k is a nice chunk, but you keep on throwing ridiculous numbers out.

The only way I'd get a Mustang and find it comparable to the Camaro is with PP and that sets me within 1,500 of the Camaro 1SS price. Yeah, some people will want the base v8, but I bet the take rate isn't as high as you think.

4 and 6 will be the bread and butter anyway.

SunRoof
(also, there wheel upgrades were like $2800, unlike the $200 options we have now, but i'll leave that out of the equation)
and you are at:
$43,235
Now add on an option that didn't exist last year, MRC at $1695 and we are at:
$44,930

So, if we agree we are apples to apples, then the increase is $3000. Now, I don't know how true the statement is of standard 1K to 1.5K increase for new generation, then we are an additional $1500 above the "standard".

Now, are we really talking about a standard gen change on this beast? - I argue no, we are getting a vastly better machine.

So, $3K increase - Not sure what the big deal is really, it's $1500 more than what most expected, and if I were a Camaro enthusiast on this board I wouldn't even think twice about it.

ok, just my 300,000 cents (ha, see what i did there)
Also since he wants a auto, the hp went from 400 to 455 and torque about the same. That almost a 15% gain.

Two observations here
  1. You bought a 2SS with the RS package. Not a bare bones stripper
  2. You paid $38,000 for it in 2011. The 2016 includes the RS for $42,295. Five model years later and a vastly superior car.

I actually payed 37250 and mine was loaded every option but any ways 42.300 is to high for a starting price. If your good with it good for you I'm not and I know there's a lot of other people that aren't ether. it will be maybe 1/2 second faster big deal you think it's worth the money buy one. I don't think it is I will wait and when sales suck and there giving them away I'll be there to pay what I want.

You are ok with it. That is fine. Others are not. Chevy's goal should be to get as many sales as possible. Correct? If that is the case then the way they came out with pricing is just plain not smart.

No, their goal should be to make the most money, which doesn't necessarily mean they have to sell more at a lower price.

I've been to track days and no one drives these cars balls out. No one on here will pull times that are recorded buy Gm no were near they can car less if they reck it.
Well,, I have to respectfully disagree with this statement. The group I run track days with have quite a good amount of skilled drivers.
I know a guy who got Z28 last winter, and his lap time on Grattan raceway this summer was around 1:26. If you look up "GT350 Grattan" you'll see some videos where GT350 is running around 1:26. (time calculated from video)
I also know a guy who has bone stock 1LE, that laps same track around 1:28.
One guy runs 05 C6 Z51 at 1:26 with nothing but racing pad/tire upgrade.

I agree with you that probably 80% of this car will not see track, but those who bring them to track, about half of them will possibly see 90% of its actual capability.

I see you are in Chicago - if you want to come out to track days where people actually push their car little more, come join us when we go to Grattan or Gingerman, both of which are used quite a lot by car magazines and not too far from you.

I'm not sure of a car company that doesn't package options. Get the 1SS and put what you want in it using aftermarket.

Needed?!...don't talk about needed, you kidding me...needed?!
someone will get the reference.
