Will you lease now?
I know many people were less than pleased with the release of the price of the 2SS. I wonder if this will push people into leasing it if so what are our best guesses on price per month of a 48 month 12,000 miles a year?(I know there is little info on any of this but educated guesses there are lots of smart people on here)

I doubt I'll look at leasing because I won't go above my set budget, and I don't *have* to have a 2SS. But I do see it as a viable strategy for a lot of people.
You end up paying more in the long run, but spread that difference out over 8 years (3yr lease, 5 yr loan), and it's a lot more palatable for some people. Co-worker bought a top of the line Tundra, and leased it for the first 3 years, then bought it. He's happy with the pricing, and month to month, it helped him pay his other bills.

I will very likely lease a LT Camaro as I purchased my C7 Vette and can't afford two full car payments. I will be watching to see which Camaro model GM gives a lease subsidy to once supply meets demand. With no Turbo 4 available at launch perhaps GM will package a V6 auto together with reasonable lease rates much like they did with the 2LS cars.

If you get the residual at a great price you will actually be fine. after 3yrs the interest on the residual will be way lower due to financing a smaller sum and there is no interest on the lease.

This is exactly what I was planning on doing from the start. My configuration RS 1lt came out to about 34k(which feels high for clothe) I figure 10% down my Lease will be right around $300 a month. Chevy "in the past" has very competitive lease rates. Fingers crossed that will continue.

Not sure how the lease rates will be in the beginning. They have good lease rates on the 5th gen now, but I doubt the 6th gen will have good rates at the start. Probably by next year sometime they will get better.

Can you custom order a lease?
I generally prefer leasing, and I know it wasn't an option when the 5th gen came out, so I had to buy. I would certainly enjoy a lower payment, full warranty, and easy upgrade for the next big thing |

I would assume, yes. Best to call your local dealer. Might be tougher on such a new car, but I was talking to a Dodge dealership about Scat Packs, and was told I could order a car and either lease it or buy it. Either way they get a sale, and your money.

The residual values will be low on the 6th gen when it first comes out. so lease payments will be higher in the beginning, I could be wrong, but I doubt you will get a good deal on a lease for these cars, at least in the beginning.

I'm considering a lease for 3 years just to have the payments lower initially. this car seems like it has all the tech that my 2012 didn't, so I'll likely keep it for at least 10 years.
After the 3 years, I'll buy the car, so being over the mileage limits won't matter. This plan may make me pay just a little bit more than buying it outright, but I've got a lot of uncertainties (selling my house, etc) over the next 1.5 years that make a lease the safest thing. PLUS, the component coverage warranty is about to expire on my vert & they're replacing the water management bags this week. If I have to pay for any repairs to the top, I may as well have bought a 6th gen! |
