I am holding out until you can negotiate a good price. Which for me would be a 2SS with sunroof for $41k out the door, including TTL and all dealer fees.

Might have to wait a year.

You get what you pay for. However I do not agree with Chevy's approach of making the "base V8" Camaro ~$4,000 more than a "base V8" Mustang.

Better car=higher price. and I really hate it when people say it's just a Camaro. Like we are not allowed to grow beyond our redneck roots.... I'm moving on.

I'm with you! You get what you paid for, plus all you see these days are mustangs because of the price thus making little kids drive them, crash them, and with all the fan boys not seeing a couple of Mustangs any given day is like winning the lotto. With the camaro price I think people who really appreciate and are passionate about having the Camaro will still get the car, weeding out those who just want to be in a high hp car and in the news the next. Yes shots fired so flame on... Just my 2 cents.

It isnt worth it to me. It comes with lots of options, but they arnt worth the premium to me personally.
I wouldn't pay $1 for leather so even of that comes in the sticker and makes it worth more to some people it is a waste to me. That is why I like having options. Unfortunately they didnt do that with the camaro :(

You get what you pay for, but if you dont want some of what u r getting then the value plummets.

To get a 1SS automatic with the NPP I would be over 39,000, closer to 39,500 when you factor in fees and such.

Well, i was going to wait for a year or two anyway.as for the price, high but totally worth it.please don't compare it to the donkey GT.things like electric parking brake,2 big and nice screens and RS apearance package all coming standard with it will push the price up for sure BUT for me its high at this point and I will be waiting for a while.

It's around what I expected, but wish it was a bit lower. It means my 2SS will be $40-45k once I get what I want I imagine. That makes me sad. Pushes it a little out of my range. :(

I don't think these numbers will scare many at all. The majority of 5th gen sales were high option content cars. If you want to purchase a no option 1SS, LS or 1LT you really really need to look hard for one, in my region of the world anyways.

Fwiw, the few local Mustangs ive looked at on the lot were priced high. The GT premium was $44k and the ecoboost car was over touching 35, I dont remeber the actual number though.

Well see who has the better formula. Ford has less content for an aluring lower base price and GM went for higher content at a higher start. I think the Camaro is on a far superior chassis but will the general masses even care?

Ought to be interesting.

I initially griped about the price of the 1SS. But in reality a base 2016 1SS is in theory a 2015 1SS/1Le with RS package, far superior mylink, and night and day better interior, more content, less weight, better chassis and more hp/tq for peanuts more $$$. In that respect unless your just shopping a dollar figure the price hike is not so hard to swallow.

It's higher than I expected and once these stealerships start putting their own packages on it some 1SS' will almost hit $40K. I have always loved the Camaro, my entire life. But I have to ask myself if I want a $40K Camaro SS? What are my options out there for that price new or used? I still would need to test drive and see what my final cost is once they let us use the GM Supplier discount. It definitely opens up your options..

For those that buy highly optioned cars its a lot of content for the dollars. A 455 HP, M6 2SS with Nav, dual mode, HUD and mag ride for $45k MSRP isn't bad if the quality is there. Seriously, that is what is expected just based on what the Chevy SS goes.

Everything else is getting more expensive too.

It is called inflation. That and adding technologies to please the consumer and the government.
The natural rate of deflation is negated by government regulations and counterfeiting.

I think GM is betting on the comparison tests justifying the Camaro's higher price over the Mustang. I really like the Mustang, so the Camaro is gonna have to be pretty damn good. If indeed it is that much better, most people won't worry about an extra $35 on their monthly payment.
