I wanted a reasonably priced 2016 1SS and @ $37,295 it isn't feasible since the price jump is pretty significant, especially if I want an option or 2 ..... then taxes here in Phila., PA are 8% so it's getting kind of pricey ....

I don't think it will beat the 350R either, but I'll go on record predicting that a performance optioned (once they offer it) 1SS will be better around a track than the 350, and within a mouse fart of the 350R. You could probably put good tires and 3.91's on the base 1SS manual and get similar results.

I just asked the magic 8-ball and it's confirmed.

Just get it used. Let somebody else deal with the high sticker price.

A 2015 1SS bases for $34,500.
A 2016 1SS bases for $37,295.
That's an 8.1% increase.

Using that multiplier:
A 2015 2SS bases for $38,300.
A 2016 2SS bases for $41,400.

That's my guess.

Couple more tidbits. Floor mounted gas pedal.

Looks like LT1 gets further oil/air separation. All gen V small block have those air/oil separator domes built into the valve cover but Camaro gets in addition to those, a separate in line separator. Has an oil drain line back to the crankcase, but I can't really tell what lines go into it.

This ^ Again as I have said, your getting a really well equipped car in the 1SS. Better equipped than a base GT, and the car will perform better as well. So a higher price is justified in those regards.

Now think of it as average joe consumer who just wants something that looks good and goes fast with a V-8.

Choices are a 32K GT or a 37K 1SS camaro.....sees that the 37K 1SS camaro then looks and sees that I can get a 37K Mustang GT premium with more features(than base GT), + heated and cooled leather seats for same price as a 1SS

5k dollar difference between 1SS and 2SS? GM is out of their minds. I think my decision is made.

Ford packaged the car much better. I can equip a Mustang GT PP 401 which I would consider the equivalent of a 2SS for 41,500. BUT you don't have to get all that crap if you don't want it. I don't care about the nannies. Car shouldn't have crossed 40k. It better weigh 3,700 pounds for starting curb weight.
