The fact is manual window mechanisms are of more weight than their power windows counterparts but the image is the power windows weigh more. Another case of reality being trumped by myth.

Agree.Addition to this even if the power windows weight 100 times more it still worth it.for me power, luxury and convenience features are priceless. Now some people said to me that I should look for a European hi-po cae,I would definitely get an F-TYPE R if I had the money for it but I don't so I will have to go with another one of my favourite cars which is the camaro and it suits me perfectly. It has the power it has the tech so what more can I ask for(with this price range)

The thing is, the tech isn't really going to contribute that much to sticker shock. Displays are getting cheaper and cheaper to make, same goes for the rest of the tech. CD players were a huge deal when they came out, but once they were near ubiquitous, they were included in everything. Screens are already getting to that level of ubiquity from what I've seen in pretty much everything at the 25k+ level.

I like power windows, but I don't need a touchscreen in my car, and I'm pretty sure it cost more than a couple hundred $ to include it. I also like H.U.D. I think it adds to the driving experience, but a touch screen, it's a distraction. I could see the screen being used for a backup camera, but not to play around with while driving. At least the C7 has the screen facing the driver, which seems better.

I've heard this before, but somewhat skeptical. Do you have any evidence of this claim? Either way, I'd expect there to be minimal difference between the power and manual setups.

You can buy a myriad of high def tablets out there with pretty good screens for well below the $200 mark and some below the $100 mark. So not including their profit, processors, cameras, batteries, other internals, etc. on top of just the screen. Screens are cheap now, especially in bulk orders large enough to put in cars.

Per my memory, in the lead up to the Sonic, but can recall if it was an engineer in a GM produced video or the q&a in San Francisco. Following those events there was discussion on the Sonic forum but I do not believe the specific weight difference was mentioned.
