2.0T Convertible pre-order & delivery dates?

I've searched the forums & online, all I can find is the convertible will be available in the spring and the 2.0T overall is "late availability"...Does anyone have any insider info of timelines?

....Kind of strange....The T4 is the standard engine....The V-6 is an option that needs to be chosen....Yet, we've seen numerous V-6s running around already and no Turbo 4's....Just seems it should be the other way around...

That is, the T-4s would be the first available, and the optional V-6 would be the one that would require the "wait 'til later" delivery....

Why would you not offer the base engine first? Please tell me that's not true or that's really f'ing stupid on gm's behalf.

I can't say if it's true or not....but it seems that way.... Not sure, but I don't think you can even order a t-4 yet (It's not even in the system...????)

I guess we'll know soon enough what and when models get ordered, built, and delivered...But what I've gathered the T-4s will be the last to the party...

The playbook said production of the 2.0T will not begin until Q1 2016. That's anywhere between Jan. and March of next year.

It makes sense. The highest margin cars are always the most expensive, highest trim, and most optioned. GM also knows initial early demand will be for the V6 and SS. Look at the polls taken on this forum. The SS and V6 lead the way very heavily over the 4 cylinder

I wonder if CAFE has anything to do with the 2.0T delay?

A Spring introduction of the convertible speaks for itself.

Yep GM will want to sell what's in demand right off the bat. Once it gains popularity then the they will bring out the turbo 4 and vert.

Not only that but it takes a while to get production ramped up to full capacity. So when there are only a limited number of build slots, it makes the most sense to fill them with the most profitable cars you can.

Why would it? CAFE has been law for more than 35 years. And any time an automaker exceeds the target, they earn credits that they can either bank for later use or sell to some other automaker. There isn't much incentive within the CAFE laws to delay the introduction of something. If anything, they encourage automakers to be as efficient as possible.

It's real interesting that they even have the V6 which comes in Auto only, at all...I guess it'll mainly be for fleets...Will depend what you're into but I think the overwhelming majority would have more fun driving the 2.0t than the V6...

...All good points, but....I don't see the V-6 being that much more of a money-maker for Chevy.....Aren't all options available to either the T-4 or V-6 as an LT1 or LT2?....I think they are more the same, than different and that profitablility would be a wash...I recall the pricing was to be almost the same for either engine...perhaps not....

Just thinking that sales (and profit) would be more of a loss without the sooner availability of the base model, the novelty and interest in the T-4 would suffer for the sake of a "marginal" profit margin for the V-6....Seems ironic that the model-line's anticipated biggest seller and entry level car is actually the last one offered for sale...

The V6 can be bought with Auto or Manual. It can also have Dual Mode Exhaust, which the T4 can not. The V6 has more HP as well. You can also get the V6 (or T4 for that matter) in the 1LT or 2LT.

IMO there validating the OEM power upgrades to the turbo, IE there may be ways to up the power on the car from the 275 HP to 400? with factory add on parts.

PS IMO this will be a better car then the V6 car.

V6 comes in both manual and auto. Also, the V6 is not the "fleet" offering....you must be applying the Ford Mustang principles to this car, but that is just not the way it is.

The V6 is an optional engine, and will be an upcost trim over the base 2.0, and will also be slightly quicker than the 2.0. Only when you mod/tune the 2.0 will it be faster, or likely more fun to drive than the V6, although stock to stock, they should be close to each other. V6 will pull harder on the top end, and isn't lacking much on the low end compared to the 2.0 either.
