Both. It is a fuel economy measure. If you can prevent jackrabbit starts via programming you can improve city fuel economy.

Those buying a V6 need to have their expectations in line. Its simple as that. I did when I owned my 2010 V6 and I loved it. I made it look nice, and it got more attention than most V8s and was still fun to drive once I had all the bolt ons and a tune done. I very seriously considered another V6, but loaded this time b/c honestly, I'll never use the full performance of the 6th gen V6, much less the V8 this time around.

That said, I went with a V8 this time. Hopefully dump little $ into performance, and instead put towards cosmetics.

That's true for cars in general. The members on this site aren't reflective of the typical owner (even Camaro owner).

I guess it depends what you define "modest performance" as. If you won't be tracking the car, not even to a drag strip for a street car / test and tune night... what are you really worried about performance for? Passing on a two lane road? Getting up to speed on an on ramp?

Go with an SS. You'll have a warranty and a (subjectively) better sound, with MRC as an option for a better ride quality.

The four cylinder will have more than enough power for everyday (non-track) driving performance though.
