NASCAR race cars feature such. Ideally, and these GMPP parts should come close to ideal, they have a positive effect on a car handling at speed similar to how airplane wings and ailerons affect flight. The front lip, here called a splitter, will also direct air flow in such a way as to help cooling, especially when driving at highway speeds.

They are often added to induce a "race car" image to a vehicle. My hope is GMPP engineering has gone beyond that and very likely has.

Ground effects optimize aerodynamics.

The SS, in contrast, is really a road car, not a track toy, and those bits are next to useless at road-legal speeds. On the ZL1 or the Z28, well that's a different story.

Aesthetically, also, the front bumper area of the Z06 is much simpler and less busy than the SS's, so adding another element or two doesn't mess up the front end the way it does on the G6 SS. IMO, of course.

On scraping the splitter - not saying this is a problem unique to the SS. Actually, the SS may have a bit of an advantage here in that its front overhang is quite short. But I see so many scraped splitters around. Anyone like me who parks in a multi-level garage would be best to avoid these unless they don't mind trying to go into and out of the ramps semi-sideways all the time.

I'm reminded of once watching a top-down Ferrari 430 enter a street from a gas station - the scraping noise it made on the relatively low curb ramp was loud enough to wake the dead, I broke out laughing it was so bad. Driver did not appreciate this, roared away on spinning wheels.... Anyone ever see the episode of Top Gear where the boys try to get 3 supercars out of a multi-level garage? Hilarious stuff.
With all the track-ready enhancements made to the SS model, I wouldn't be surprised if the splitter and ground effects actually are functional.

It was said elsewhere, that one of the reps said these add ons were wind tunnel tested. True or not? Who knows.

That's definitely a wicker bill style spoiler a la 3rd gen on the silver car in the photos! Nice.

Thanks The duck tail/wickerbill style spoiler looks sooooooo much better on the SS than the standard 90's Accord looking one! I like the front splitter and sides pieces as well. I hope they have it at launch.

Also the I'm pretty sure the color people are saying looks orange is probably Red Hot but maybe looks off from the cell pic?

F**k, they have an option for GFX and a dovetail that annihilates the crappy stock SS spoiler? This means I can build a successor to my 2011 and actually retain most of my design preferences. And have the nicer interior of the 2016. And correct the mistake I made a few years ago, this time opting for the manual. God dammit. Fine, GM, you keep trying to grab my attention so I'll finally say it…

One black 2016 2SS with GFX and white rally stripes, please. Thanks for ruining my personal fiscal responsibility.

P.S. For anybody who noticed, this proves that the early production cars driving with stripes on the front bumper cover were indeed legit. The rally stripes extend halfway down the front face of the car. I actually like this look, but I can see some people removing the decals that go under the grill.

Are those wheels an option even? Can't really tell what the wheels are that are shown a few times. The ones on the white Camaro on the top? 5split spoke, but seem too dark in the centers?

She also told me that all the pics were hand drawings. The artist even signed one of them. I took a pic of this tail, they said it would be available around launch or shortly after. There will also be a black out option with black ground effects and wheels and more to come.

Which wheels? No matter which wheels, there are center choices, including center cap choices.

I love some of the names for the paint choices:

Pull Me Over Red
Blue Me Away
Sun of a Gun Metallic
