you want your car to give you better 1/4 mile numbers,i want to make my car go sideways, its about what you want in your car and if you don't want to help me,please don't. Who said the camaro isn't built to drift?the best drifting team in the whole middle east use only camaros(zl1) and they've beaten every 370z and GT86(known as FRS in your country).I never doubt the capability of drifting in the camaro but what im trying to point here is that GM should prepare the new car(airbag sensitivity and other stuff) for all kind of sporty driving situations. |

Oh for crying out loud it looks like it has happened ONCE and that happened 4 years ago. There are people who heavily track their cars and have never had an issue. If it was so easy to get the airbags to go off it would come up in testing. There won't be a problem and there is absolutely nothing to worry about.

If you plan on doing what that idiot in that video did then you deserve to have an air bag blow up in your face.

I've seen drift cars having the hand brake, this car has a switch. I guess that would be an issue as well. Sounds like you need a 5th Gen.

That Caddy drifting video above didnt use the e-brake to drift though, professionals use it, but he has said he isnt a professional I think.

#2 -- The 6th Gen Camaro isn't even out yet. Wait until it comes out and let the experts figure it out before you dive right in with assumed issues. #3 -- Show a little respect. He's pointing out that the Camaro doesn't come from the factory with drifting in mind. There are better platforms if you don't want to modify it. Most people that buy the Camaro won't drift...those that do expect to spend some time and money setting it up for that "sport."

To play devil's advocate, is air bag deployment the end of the world? Sure it's expensive to replace them, but you could easily spend more money in replacement tires in a few drifting sessions. |

Talk to the drifters about what they did for the airbags, or disable them yourself, it's your car. Do whatever you want. GM would never endorse or advise to drift this car, and they would never accept liability for a failure of your airbags due to drifting. Nor should they. |

I didn't watch that video until now. Pretty simple concept, carry some speed into a flat corner, hard turn, and nail it! That doesn't take a professional. Might need some practice so you don't loop it.

When the new Camaro is available for testing I am sure you will see it being drifted, that seems to be the standard practice for testing sports cars these days. I doubt there will be any issues drifting/flogging the Gen 6 Camaro and having the airbags deploy. |

If Andy Pilgrim is not professional driver, then I don't know who is.... ![]() I think you meant Andy is not 'all time drifter', right? Yeah, usually drifters use handbrake (in many cases, extended ones for easy to reach, I guess) to initiate the sliding (drifting) going, but Andy was able to do all that without e-brake and with automatic Caddy. Now,,, OP and many other drifting fans may hate me for saying this, but I don't think of drifting as 'racing'. Don't get me wrong - I know it takes great skills to drift neatly, and precisely. However, when you are being scored, not timed, it's not racing.... So, when Camaro is said to be ready for track days, it was more of "road course" track days. |

![]() Andy isnt a "pro drifter", but as a professional race car driver, he certainly can drift. My understanding is that drifting is initiated with a manual e-brake for those that are doing specifically that sport professionally, and usually they modify their cars mechanically to either Add or improve the e-brake Andy used another common technique to destabilize the center of gravity with a quick opposite wheel shift before committing to the drift turn of his wheels. |
