Question HD Radio confirmed on 6th Gen?

So has anyone confirmed if GM FINALLY added HD Radio to the 6th Gen Camaro? No Sirius XM is NOT enough, those of us unwilling to pay that monthly fee want higher quality AM & FM, plus you receive additional NEW sub-channel stations not heard on analog radio!

So far only two Chevrolet's are listed supporting HD Radio, Tahoe and Suburban.

Seems to be more common on Cadillacs:

I didn't see it anywhere in the playbook or order guide. After looking at the C7 forum, it appears GM has dropped HD for the time being. Check out this article:

http://telematicswire.net/general-mo...s-five-models/

Here’s a list of GM vehicles that still include HD Radio, and we’re reporting today that all Cadillacs offer HD Radio and it’s standard in the 2015 Escalade:

Model Year 2014
Cadillac — Escalade, Escalade ESV, SRX, XTS, CTS, ELR, ATS
Buick — Enclave, Lacrosse, Regal
Chevrolet — Suburban, Tahoe, Silverado LD, Impala, Corvette
GMC — Yukon, Yukon XL, Sierra
Model Year 2015
Cadillac — Escalade, Escalade ESV, SRX, XTS, CTS, ELR, ATS, ATS Coupe
Chevrolet — Suburban, Tahoe
GMC — Yukon, Yukon XL

With it not being on the '15 C7, I seriously doubt we will see it on the 6th gen. But then again it might be returning for MY16.

Unhappy

Major bummer! IMHO, there is no excuse for all cars not to have this STANDARD, it is like still using an analog TV when there is much improved picture and audio digital HDTV being broadcasted! After all, the standard was FCC approved back in 2002...

As for the linked article below, HD Radio has an all-digital mode, which could be a mere option on the GM HD Radio system, there-by providing a digital-analog transition work around. Heck, all over-the-air TV already migrated all digital with ATSC, why is radio SO slow to move over?! Thanks for that article, btw.

Am I the only one who doesn't like how HD radio sounds? I have it in my current car and turn it off so I can listen to the analog FM stations when I'm not listening to Sirius.

The reason GM dropped HD for some 2015 models is because it did not work and serious reception issues. GM trucks have had a real problem for the 2014s.

Definitely not me. I love how much better HD radio sounds than XM. But honestly I rarely listen to broadcast stations. So while I want it, I probably won't notice it being gone.

Hardly. You'll be hard pressed to find it standard on the majority of vehicles, if offered at all.

AM Stereo anyone?

When I had HD the sound was much better in HD when within say ten or twenty miles of the broadcast tower (can't remember which) but at the edge would bounce back and forth between HD and regular. That was an aftermarket JVC head unit installed in my Vortech supercharged Cavalier.

How can anyone still listen to FM radio? Same songs over and over again, every hour, blabbering hosts, morning zoo's....ugh

Between Pandora and SIRIUS there are much better options, time to move on.

I keep all my music on a flash drive and just play everything from there. No commercials, way higher quality than any radio, basically my entire music library, no subscription fees, no data usage from stuff like Pandora / Spotify... I love it and I haven't listened to the radio in years lol

It's sad that this isn't available on all models by now and I have to pay for an aftermarket receiver to get it...

I have it in my current DD (aftermarket unit) and I love it with FM. It blends it anyway so if it loses the digital signal it seamlessly cuts back into the analog signal without any noticeable delay/issue. I just like that it sounds much clearer and gets rid of the static.

However, personally I do like the analog sound of AM much better than the digital so I deactivate it if listening to talk radio. Just a personal opinion of mine. I'm sure some people feel the same about FM.

Long story short. This should be something that is standard/optional in vehicles by now. It's ridiculous that it isn't available (this being if it isn't available in the Camaro). I mean we can get freakin' WiFi in our cars now with GM... How the hell do we not have technology that has been approved by the FCC for 12+ years old now.
