You came right in comparing your genesis 8 speed to the Camaro..."why in the hell" would you do that? Talk about foolish.

It is the same transmission in the vette...and if you don't think it will be tuned and geared to perform...like I said do your homework. It is in fact geared aggressive (this information is available if you would educate yourself) and will shift fast.

The challengers 8 speed is producing better numbers than the manuals as well. FAR BETTER. And it isn't a "performance tuned sports car" as you say about the Camaro. .

Camaro 8 speed will be just as good.

And are you aware that the Camaro almost mirrored the corvette 1/4 mile performance from 1998-2002? It wont be as close this time....but you make it sound like the Camaro is always designed to be bus lengths behind. Not true.

Yes, the Camaro will weigh more and have different sized tires than the C7, so we should expect different gearing at least in the differential and probably in the transmission. The gears are not what makes the shifting quick, thats the clutch design, valve bodies and tuning. If they gear the various trims of the Gen 6 for performance the you should see the benefit of the quicker shifting. Rememder, we first saw this type technology in the 6L90 used in the 5th Gen ZL1, they just enhanced in th C7 (which came after the ZL1). There is no reason to believe they will neuter it for the new Camaro.

I knew I had seen the ratios somewhere. Did some digging. Here's the preliminary info straight from GM on the 6th gen transmission ratios.

In terms of auto trans...they are the same other than an upgraded clutch pack for increased torque handling I believe.

We are not comparing the total cars, we comparing the transmissions. We have explained why we think the comparison is valid. Perhaps you can now explain why you think it is invalid.

Comparing a z28 or zl1 will be good.but the SS with the z06 is just they're way different. Maybe with the c7 would be fair enough

Same transmissions are used in the C7 (manual vs auto). The manual is a bit slower in acceleration than the auto. Why do YOU think a manual Camaro will be quicker than the auto Camaro.
