OKAY, I actually had to chose between a MB, an Audi, and the Camaro last year. No, I did not look at an SL roadster, I live in the real world where I have to work for a living and pay a mortgage, so i looked at the cabriolets: The E350, the A5 and the SR5 (love, love, love, but no $, no$$, no$$$) and the 2SS/RS. The Germans were very nice, but very expensive. The Camaro on the other hand, had the BADASSERY factor. So yeah, I went it.

But if GM tries to add premium pricing for a premium convertible then I'm worried.

My guess is that people will pay more for this as it is better. Noticeably better than the Mustang.

But again it seems the last bit of information here is pricing. And something tells me GM is going up market just a weeee but with the Gen6 coupe and convertible.
If price is a concern, the first thing to me that would get ruled out would be a convertible top....It screams "upscale" on it's own, as in impractical and a pure luxury, that is easily done without....

Whatever the stand-alone price is for a convertible, upscale or otherwise, to those who are happy without one, it's a non-issue....To those who have to have one, probably a bigger price tag wouldn't be a deal breaker....

A fully loaded Camaro convertible will probably still be a bargain compared to other brands.....I would rather have a quality, upscale convertible top that would be worth the money, should I ever be in the market for one...

I don't know....lol....just sayin' an "expensive, up-scale" convertible Camaro wouldn't really be a shocker....

I wonder if the rear seats will fold down on the convertible this time? Probably not, but we can hope. If not, this car is barely above a vette for practicality. My Mini Cooper vert had fold down seats; it can be done. Still, a great looking car.

I have used mine to haul a 10 foot long 2X12, 6 8 foot long 4x4 land scraping timbers, a 8X10 indoor outdoor carpet roll and a 60" LCD big screen TV. Who says it's not practical?

Well, with this little sampling, probably why "up-scale" buyers of convertibles go with BMW and others....

The Camaro, even the convertible, looks like it's in no danger of being considered up-scale...lol....

Guess the sales could be harder to track as you mentioned.

Don't really care either way... But your argument that they are popular so they won't have people hating on them is unrealistic. It's actually just the opposite.
It says 2015 right on it and part of my point is what you complained about... this "information" is all over the place and... since GM evidently stopped reporting in July of 2013, can we actually know the truth?

That said, I'll give them 3rd place, knowing the numbers are all over. That still proves my initial point... not everyone loves to bash GM.

I can show lists where GM is #6... would you think those true? http://transport.asiaone.com/news/ge...companies-2014

This topic is about me? OH! Retired after 28yrs.

The SLK Roadster starts @ $43,950... WAY OVER the Camaro 2SS, huh? All of $550. If that breaks your bank, realistically, you shouldn't be buying either. My pickup had a higher MSRP.

BMW 2 starts @ $37,900 and 4, @ $48,750... point is, you could get a similarly priced MB or BMW.

Audi A3? $35,600. A5? $47,600. TTRoadster? $43,350

If you look, there's plenty available in the same price range... in the real world. The 2SS/RS MSRP is $44,750. Is that less expensive than all of those listed?

Did $3,000 really kill the A5 for you? I doubt it. I would probably choose the 2SS/RS myself, but the bigger point is, price isn't the biggest factor and certainly shouldn't be, for anyone in the 'vert market.

Well said. Available funding is still the biggest overall factor in choosing, but you aren't wrong. If ya can't afford to spend more for a convertible than a hardtop... you don't get a convertible. That is, those in the 'vert market... have the money to buy one, because like you said, they (assuredly) cost more unless the model is only available as convertible.

I wouldn't expect it. The main reason could be, those seats serve as a protection point for the roof and for the occupants(when down). It can be done, but the Mini is so different, it's easier to see it done there.

I've driven camaro and BMW verts. I liked the camaro the best and with the enhancements for 2016, this is as upscale as it gets IMO.

I was hoping for a white or grey top to go with a silver car. I'll have to consider the blue for the top. I guess I need to look for some pictures.
