Holy Sh$t!!!!! The TP-LINK TL-WPA4220KIT ADVANCED 300Mbps Universal WiFi Range Extender, Repeater, AV500 Powerline Edition kicks butt!!!
WAY better network ability now! Thanks guys for the help, this is like moving away from dial up all over again. ![]() One weird thing: the lights go out on the units but the signal still seems better. Why do the lights go out?

got a question. lets say I have a computer that came with windows 7 64bit. And lets say someone (for gods knows what reason) installed a 32bit windows 7. is it possible to reset the computer to factory settings and put the computer back to 64bit (without the install disk), or will a fresh install be the only way?

Since Windows does the check pointing, I have a feeling you're lost from 64 to 32.

weeeeeell......looks like I was wrong, my computer was never 64 bit compatible.
So next question, does anyone know if I can change out the cpu to one that's 64 bit? I have a Dell XPS 8100. I believe I currently have the i7, but not sure which one. and looking further into it, it seems all the i7 processors that are available for the xps 8100 are 64 bit. i'm so confused. Here are the specs between the two: http://www.cpu-world.com/Compare/338...i7_i7-870.html and here is a pdf of the processors available for the xps 8100. http://downloads.dell.com/Manuals/al...uide_en-us.pdf although I can't find anything about the i7 750. I think it's a typo and should be i5 750, which is also 64 bit, I believe.

looking further on that pdf, there is a L3 cache (not sure what that means) and lists i7 750 with up to 6MB of RAM. which is how much I have. so that has to be the one I have, but can't find any info on it. But everything seems to be 64 bit. I got a 64 bit windows 8, but it won't load.
edit: windows 8 32 bit installed fine.

WELL, in typical computer geek fashion, a casual mention of being geeky has turned into a tech help thread.

![]() In a more serious fashion, if you want to verify the proc in your computer you should be able to see it in the system page of the control panel on Windows 8. If that fails, download CPU-Z. It will give you all the information you need to know for free. |
