Was it effective? Depends on point of view, but private sector union membership is less than 8% of the work force and I do not know of anyone who would argue the middle class is better off today than it was 20 0r 30 years ago. I do try to avoid these kinds of arguments but any insistence that organized labor is bad brings out my long guns.

I would hope you would not get banned for the comment above.

I grew up in a UAW town and my Grandfather participated in the sit down strike that ultimately led to the UAW. I know how it used to be and I know the value the UAW brought to those workers at that time.

The middle class IS better off for what the unions were able to negotiate in the 50s, 60s and 70s.

There are certainly good sides for the employees to being represented. But there are a multitude of difficulties for the employer that probably shouldn't be debated here (and I wish the UAW was wiling to address but won't).

I respect your post and position on this???

Most unions today have lost their focus on what they were formed for. Now it's just another big business looking out for itself instead of the working man.

it is an internal dealer meeting with confidential information that is not available to the public - regardless of strong language used.

Note to self: The hammer is a myth.

The reveal was internal - not external and yes there is a hammer. Ask a few people who have been struck by said hammer.

Dealer markups are called free trade. Manufacturer employees can actually be prosecuted for dictating what a dealer can or cannot sell a vehicle for. You as the consumer have the power to say 'no!' It's called anti-trust laws. Trust me on this.

This times eleventy billion. Unions were created because of guys like Carnegie and Rockefeller but the concept is no longer really needed and does more harm then good. The irony is, if it wasn't for their greedy capitalism America wouldn't be the super power it is today.

At least they died philanthropists!

New front fascia treatments, unknown if there are any mechanical upgrades.

It would have been helpful if this Dealer's Meeting had been described as such from the beginning....All we had was this event on Chevy's calendar as the most recent event regarding the 6thGen...and the natural curiosity about the car that followed having knowledge of this event...

There were numerous opportunities to give out the real nature of this Vegas affair in advance, yet there was nothing...

This description of it being confidential and no public info allowed had been made known sooner, this thread would probably never have existed....

The calendar you're referring to was ALSO an internal thing. Most of the SRGs I've seen that have those launch/event calendars also have little footnotes that say "Salesperson use only." Not sure if Camaro's had it on every page or not.

You're basically complaining about not having prior knowledge about things you're not even supposed to know about.

The calendar lists all major upcoming events like auto shows and yes, even dealer-only meetings. That would make sense, since it was SUPPOSED TO BE SEEN BY DEALER EMPLOYEES ONLY.

You're acting like you just wandered into some hangar at a government base and now you're getting mad because they won't let you see what's in hangar #2.

It's a calender for Chevy Dealers of places the 6th gen will be shown. Obviously they didn't intend for us to see it, but that doesn't mean every event the 6th gen will be at will be a secret (albeit poorly kept).

Funny....That calendar has been on this forum for many weeks already and the Vegas meeting was common knowledge....No one ever described the Vegas Dealer meeting as being like a secret government hangar....

....Usual experts come out of the wood-work after the fact....whatever...not that interested in hanger #2 anyways...sheesh...
