I am one of those that lost interest. Traded the Shelby in in a C6 Z06, last week. Damn, I love Corvettes. Idk if I will ever have a 6th Gen, now. Guess It depends on what hi-po variants come out later.

I lost interest the moment I saw the new car.

Continuation of the 1st-gen styling with only an evolution of the theme. Never really worshipped at the the 1st-gen alter, and I was hoping for something based off the early 2nd gen. So there's that.

The goofy looking, non-functional intakes on the SS hood. It's 2016, if you can't figure out how to make them a functional ram-air set up, why bother.

The horrible rear-end styling coupled with that ugly SS rear spoiler. Ugh.

I'm sure the handling and performance of the new, lighter chassis will be fantastic, and I have always preferred GM muscle cars to those of Ford and Chrysler, but the 6th gen's styling is a deal breaker for me. Maybe the 2020 refresh will be better...

To me, a way to vent hot air away from the engine compartment is much more important than any minimal effect a ram air intake will have because I rarely break the 100 mph needed to get the best effect a hood ram air intake provides. No matter how slow or fast I drive, the vented hood hot air extraction will benefit.

Exactly. Just because they aren't ram air intakes doesn't mean that they are "non-functional". As you've pointed out, they serve a very important function..and at speed are sort of "ram coolers". In addition to that, they actually improve the drag and lift profile of the car by reducing the parachute effect of the engine compartment which probably does more for high speed performance than any marginal ram-air effect into the engine air box could.

What makes you think they are non functional? Plus they are not ram air, they are heat extractors.

Sorry you don't like it. I sure do.

Nice to know that they are functional, but they are still goofy looking. I really wanted to like the new car, but as is, just doesn't float my boat. No biggie.

I'd say Chevy would beat it with something like this, for example...
